What needs to happen for us to get in if we lose to Clemson?

Assuming we are able to beat UVA and Pitt, what scenario would have to unfold in order for us to make the playoff if we lose to Clemson? I ask because this team seems a lot like Iowa in 2015, which barely lost to Michigan State in the conference championship and was snubbed.
1st step- grow a pair.

Here are the latest odds in Vegas for winning it all:

odds.webp

As you can see, we're getting 7:1 odds and Clemson is getting 6:1 odds. Clemson cannot make the playoffs, let alone win it all, with a loss to us. This tells me that Vegas currently has Clemson a slight favorite against us in the ACCCG, probably a -2.5 favorite. If Vegas thought Miami would beat Clemson, we clearly wouldn't be getting higher odds to win it all. Not that this is dispositive by any means; we clearly have managed to do quite fine the last couple games as a small underdog.

And to be honest, I hope we are underdogs to Clemson. The players feed off the disrespect.

I put $20 on us to win the national title last April. Odds were 85-1 then.

No way Ohio State gets in after that Iowa game, 100% ruled out

Maybe you guys missed it, but the talking heads started talking about Ohio State* getting back into the playoff picture as soon as they beat Michigan State on Saturday.

So, you better believe that if there is any possible way to get them back in, they will get in.

Second post and you are asking about losing again to the team that crushed us last time we played them? Suspiciously trollish.

Well, yeah, that and the comparison to some lame Iowa team kind of gave it away.

No lie we would have to roll our next 2 opponents, ALABAMA MUST win out, Wisconsin will lose I guarantee it (either Michigan or Ohio State), and if we do lose to Clemson, has to be less than 3 points; I just hope we are slighted somehow before to keep this chip on our shoulder.

i mean this is all assuming a close loss to clemson

but our seniors and juniors aren't losing to that team after they were here for that 58-0 beatdown we got. Payback will be a

we ruined VT's season (eliminated them from coastal), ND's Season (eliminated them from CFP), only right we ruin Clemson's season

chip on our shoulder is already given to us

upperclassmen were part of the team clemson beat 58-0

This is like Bruce Lee in Game of Death... Each level is another challenge, and I want Bama when it's all said and done.

I don't know if we are going to beat Clemson or not. They have looked scary good at times and they have looked scary bad at times. But what I do know is that I'm not going to presuppose a loss in that game and try to manufacture some rationalization that:

a) A 1 loss Miami team "deserves" to be in the playoffs, and,
b) The selection committee can be relied upon to come to the same conclusion

I think the only thing we DO know is that if we win the next three games, we are in. There's no way anyone could possibly deny that Miami belongs in the playoffs. Short of that? A loss in any of the next three games? We'll need help. Dunno bout the rest of y'all, but I don't like the needing help part, and I'm pretty sure the coaches and players don't either. So I'm not going to entertain the fantasy of growing a rose out of a ****, because I'm not going to assume the **** is there in the first place.

So If we beat UVA and Pitt but Lose to a 1 loss Clemson team, then:

We can't lose big in the ACC Championship game because recency bias will show. If Clemson blew us out (wont happen) then a 2 loss team would almost be guaranteed to jump us. So #1 it needs to be a 10 point or less game, and not just because we scored in garbage time.

Then, we definitely want Bama to win out because that would completely eliminate UGA and Auburn from the conversation. So if that happens that would lock Bama and Clemson in to the CFP.

After that we need to worry about the B1G and B12 (PAC12 just about eliminated). So, what wee need is Michigan to win. If Michigan beats both Wisconsin and Ohio State, we have a very good shot at making the CFP. At the very least we want Michigan to beat Ohio State, then for Ohio State to beat Wisconsin in the B1G championship game. I doubt a 3 loss tOSU would get in over us with our only loss to Clemson in the ACC Championship. And we would definitely get in over a 1 loss Wisconsin team. **** if Michigan beats Wisconsin this week we could possibly get in over them even if they won the B1G. So Priority as far as other teams are concerned we need to root for Bama to win, and Chaos in the B1G (most likely to be caused by Michigan). If Michigan doesn't create chaos in the B1G, were are probably screwed though because its tough to see a situation where the B12 Conference champion doesn't get in this year.

TL;DR: We get in with 1 loss (to Clemson in ACC Championship game) only if A) Its a competitive loss, B) Bama wins out and B1G Chaos take place.

WE. ARE. NOT. LOSING ANY. GAMES! Miami will win the ship this year just WATCH

Were out. They’re already pumping up 2 loss Auburn & 2 loss Ohio State (blown out twice).

Best case scenario.

Michigan beats Wisconsin badly. Ohio State beats Wisconsin and wins the big ten champ game

No way Ohio State gets in after that Iowa game, 100% ruled out

Alabama beats Auburn AND Georgia

Auburn UGA and Wisconsin are all left out for a one loss Miami team in this scenario

I could be mistaken.... But In this scenario Miami would be the ONLY 1 loss non championship team

You’re very wrong on Ohio State. Unfortunately.
