What is your expectations for the Alabama Game?

I have an easier question: Apart from the early 2000's, where would you rank your excitement for this team compared to others throughout the years before the first snap?

If it's a game in the fourth quarter I'll be content. Won't be happy unless we win but If it's a game in the 4th qtr then I at least won't be ****ed

On defense I expect us to emphasize stopping the run and pressuring the rookie QB to beat us with his arm. If we can't stop or at least slow down the run, it's going to be a long game. Their offense is almost all new, including the playbook and OC. We need to take advantage and either force turnovers or at least force them to play it safe. We also need the LBs to have a strong game covering Alabama's TEs since O'Brien is going to turn to them often in short yardage situations while looking to exploit exploit our LBs, arguably the biggest weakness of our defense.

On offense, I expect King to beat them with his arm. We need to try to establish the run game while keeping the defense honest though the passing game. There needs to be a good amount of designed runs for King (and at the same time he needs to protect himself). I doubt our backs will be able to gain a lot of yards on the ground against them but King should be able to gain 50-100 yards off of designed runs and scrambles. Above all, we need to force them into playing man to man with our receivers. Bama's secondary is great but not elite. They don't have a true lockdown corner like in years past. We need to exploit the secondary (especially that ***** Jobe) like Burrow did 2 years ago and Trevor Lawrence the year prior.

On special teams, I expect (hope?) that Miami doesn't give up a TD. I feel like we've been relatively weak in this area, so hopefully Alabama doesn't exploit us. Our kickers a d punters will have a solid game, and I expect (again, hope?) that our returners don't make any boneheads plays like we have the past couple of years.

I'm expecting a low scoring game, and I'm starting to drink the kool aid! Canes win 27-23! GO CANES!!

We can learn something by watching our past games against top 10 opponents.

Here is the results of Miami’s past top 10 opponents the last decade.

2020:
Clemson 42, Miami 17.

2019:
Florida 24, Miami 20

2017:
Miami 41, ND 8,
Clemson 38, Miami 3
Wisconsin 34, Miami 24

2015:
Clemson 58, Miami 0

2014:
FSU 30, Miami 26

2013
FSU 41, Miami 14

2012
ND 41, Miami 3

2010
OSU 36-Miami 24

Some of y’all don’t expect Miami to score. Miami scored in every game against top 10 opponents except 2015 Clemson.

We definitely putting up 20 or more points on Sabans Squad.

Did you honestly just post that as a positive? If you aren't putting up at least 40 you can forget it

Let’s look at the few times Alabama had lost the past decade.

I’d be taking notes on what the teams that beat Bama did well.

2019 Bama Lost 48-45 to Auburn with Bo Nix at QB.

2019 Bama lost 46-41 to the Joe Burrow LSU tigers.

2018 Bama lost 44-16 to Trevor Lawrence Clemson.

2017 Bama lost 26-14 to Jarrett Stidhams Auburn.

2016 Bama lost 35-31 to the Alleged Sexual assault Deshaun Watson.

2015 Bama lost to Ole Miss 43-37

2014 Bama lost to OSU in the title 42-35
They also lost to ole miss 23-17

2013 lost to Auburn 34-28
Lost to OU 45-31

2012 lost to the fighting Manziels 29-24

In all of these games Bama was scoring which tells me they are going to get theirs. Miami needs to win a shootout.

With Deriq King, a top 6 heisman candidate, anything is possible.

Miami can win in shootout form

No way you just outlined a 1-9 record and made it out to be a good thing. I dont think we win, my only hope is getting something going on offense; there needs to be belief on that side of the ball the rest of the year.

The only reason I say that is because our only true comparison to bama in our last ten years are our games against clemson. We literally have only scored one offensive touchdown in 12 quarters.

Looks to me like Bama's about due for a loss.

Manny needs to keep his mouth shut before they leave the locker room. We always come out looking and playing stoned. Game after game!

Get anyone else - Reed! Let Reed give the final words before they rush out of the locker room! Wasn't it Reed that spoke before Notre Dame game?

Or JJ. JJ had his teams so fired up and yet relaxed - they'd chew the rope off had they been restrained. "LET'S GO OUT THERE AND PLAY LIKE A BUNCH OF WILD MEN!"

Under JJ - they'd be loose and relaxed - which enabled them to just play ball. It was fun!

We've been coming out wound so tight - we can't do ****. Game Day should be FUN DAY!

All I remember is North Carolina game, and I am sure Bama is going to test us on the ground: Another area of concern, under Manny's tenure we have shown a talent, of making inexperience QB's looked like Joe Montana.
On offense we can't have big plays negated by dropping passes, and laying the football on the ground. Also we got a freshman kicker starting his first game.

I am just hoping this isn't a repeat of the FSU / Alabama opener, when FSU came in with a lot of hype, and basically got rollover, and lost their QB.

I just worry about this team having the ability to physically hang with Bama.

TBH, I think we can match up with them. Fielding a first year QB will be big for us. Young is a heck of an athlete, but I suspect bama coaches will be more conservative with him. His read zone stuff will need to be bottled up. I think our huge improvements in OL/WR/DT/CB and one additional year with Lash/King will make our offense much more dynamic.

The key, for me, is the coaching. I'm not yet convinced we can outcoach anyone and right now, I see bama having a huge advantage in this. And I'm not just referring to Xs and Os/scheming, I'm referring to motivating your team, keeping them focused, etc, something Manny has not shown he can do yet.
