You want to grade the hire objectively? Ask yourself this question, what would your reaction be if FSU or UF made the same hire at HC?
 
Continuity with recruiting? Ok.

If there’s Anythjng that needs shaking up, it’s recruiting.

You should be outraged at how incredibly lazy and ridiculous the “search” process went down.
You show be outraged that we didn’t even interview one other candidate.
I’m not even sure we interviewed Diaz!
If they had conducted a real “search” and it ended on Diaz it’s one thing...but to deny the opportunity to see what’s possible is inexcusable. A perfect example of everything that’s wrong with this administration.

Love Mannys passion. Nobody could deny the guy is a nut & we needed that. Please just hire the right OC. We’ll burn the coastal down every single year with the right OC.

I am certain this is the best available hire in regards to love for Hurricane football, continuity with recruiting, loved by his players and they performed for him regardless of the inept Richt offense, and highly respected on a staff that was inept at best except for Simpson. Anyone that thinks Diaz will not do everything he can to fix the offense is naive to his desire to WIN, WIN, WIN! Where are those who agreed with me that Diaz should be the HC in waiting until Richt left? This is perfect.

very spot on post. I was for Mario over Diaz ( as those were always going to be the 2 choices ) but diaz has alot of be excited about.
 
There were a lot of so called experts dropping names that no way would have bene interested or been able to because of buyouts or in better situations. Richt did a solid by retiring and no buyout.

What does that even mean?

Because he is from Miami? Because he is well spoken? Because he has passion for his job and wants to take the next step at Miami over Temple?

If those are the criteria, there are other candidates...though more narrow if the guy has to be from Miami.

A perfect fit for me would have been the same guy after posting 2-3 successful seasons at a place like Temple and showing he understands what it takes to run the show at this level.

Now, to me, it is can't miss Monday in assistant land. If money is a factor in these hires...especially OC, I don't care how perfect of a fit Manny appears to be

Not only that he is very intelligent, analytical & has the mentality to put all of the pieces in place. Great hire.
