There is some confusion from Richt and now some old heads. Just to be clear.

Working out, not missing practice, destroying teams and running up the score board is not SWAG ! Training harder then any other team is to make sure you dominate on Gameday. Thats what being a Hurricane is about.

Now after all that is completed. Then comes the swag. Swag is the way you do it. talking ****. making it look easy. making it violent. making every team in the country scared ****less. Celebrating while winning. Wearing the best unis. Now that Is SWAG

This word should be eradicated from Miami football vocabulary.

Swag - Swagger: The way you carry yourself and your program's expectations once you have achieved the pinnacle of success. Anything prior to that, without backing it up, is referred to as "false bravado".

At least that's how I remember it all those years ago when the program had it. Once it began trailing off, its just been talked about and hoped for.

But if you'd care to see how the competition viewed it, see Brian Bosworth's take "BOSWORTH: 'I HATE MIAMI'S FOOTBALL PROGRAM'" below:

Swag, or swagger, is doing all the right things to prepare for the opponent. Walking onto the field on game day, knowing you were going to win. Cool under pressure, confident the final outcome was victory, by one point or fifty points.

Swag, or swagger, is not trash talk, not prancing, not sack dances, not celebrating yourself after every play.

Teams in the 80s, early 90s, and early 2000s were not scared of Miami celebrating. What worried them was they knew the Canes were more talented, and they knew Miami felt the same way.

An FSU player back in the early 90s Wide Right games summed it up perfectly. ‘We thought we could win, Miami knew they would win”.

SWAG is telling the team you’re going to go down on the kickoff and knock the returner OUT......Then go down on the kickoff and knock the returner out!!

Swag is you knowing (talent , preparation, and conditioning wise)...and also your opponent knowing that there's NOTHING they can do that can prevent you from winning

Its a state of being....and a state of mind.

It's also light years away from this teams reality and needs to remain that way until we prove otherwise.

... making every team in the country scared ****less.

Let's be honest, that whole era of football is over. None of these kids today are gonna fear anyone.

Alabama has been on top for the past decade with five times. No one was "scared ****less" of them. Clemson just demoralized Alabama in the national title game. You think if Miami gets to the ACC title game this year they'll be "scared ****less" of the Tigers? No chance.

The Canes turned the sport on its ear in the 1980's—inner city local kids who stayed home and built a juggernaut that dismantled the wishbone and option with next-level speed on defense that ruined a dominant era built by Oklahoma, Nebraska and Notre Dame. That is never gonna happen in the game again—nor do today's kids have any fear. If anything, most are overconfident to a fault.

Alonzo said it just fine in that Canes Football video yesterday. Swag is putting in the most work—outworking every other team out there—and then reaping the rewards with wins on Saturday. The added ingredient that makes UM different; doing it the "Miami way", which is the special sauce—but no one is ever gonna "fear" another team again.

****, 2001 Nebraska didn't even "fear" the greatest UM team ever. All that "fear" stuff was fear that a blue blood sport was being taken over by the inner city—and those kids danced while kicking their asses. Different time and different place.

All that "fear" stuff died somewhere around the time George Teague stripped Lamar Thomas in the 1993 Sugar Bowl and when Washington ended a 58-home game win-streak two years later.
