What is our recruiting class rank now?

Rankings for 7-10 are virtually interchangeable so we’re top 7 nationally in talent acquisition. Thats absolutely acceptable.
there were 60 wr's ranked ahead of toney and Bryce was not a high 4 star and both are among the best freshmen in the nation. Toney is arguably the best in nation. It's really about nailing the evals. our 2024 class was top 5. Guys like Riley Williams and Jalel Skinner have been highly rated and were huge busts. its about getting the right guys.

Yup. While we'd all love to get 10 or more five stars, that's not happening. Get a top 10 class every year and hit on most of your evals, and we're in good shape. The so-called recruiting "experts" miss so many guys, it's absurd.

This class is not good enough. Not even close. I’m disappointed in the staffs efforts this year on the trail. This class doesn’t move the needle or make us better.

SYBAU clown… THIS class is ELITE better than most “ranked” ahead of us and one of the best classes coach Mario ever put together. 🤡 🤡 🤡

What’s a Mario bump?

I haven't tracked this with a spreadsheet. But based on observation, it appears to me that most of the kids Mario has recruited have seen rises in their rankings since being offered, even since committing. That is the opposite of what we saw under previous regimes.

If you agree with my observation, you'll agree there are two possible explanations -- 1. the recruits would have demonstrated relative improvement regardless of being Miami targets/commits, 2. the fact Mario wants them helps their rankings. We've called that the Saban effect in the past. Saban likes a kid, kid gets a fourth star.

I'm not saying that's happened yet. But after three stars OJ Frederique and Malachi Toney earn Freshmen AA honors in back to back seasons, I think the ratings services are going to look more closely and kindly at our targets going forward. That would be a Mario bump.

Duuuuuuude…………...
Brrrrrrrrrrrrrro……….…..
Guyyyyyyyyy……………

In my best @Rellyrell voice, “you know you’re my guy… you know I love you….. BUT….”

This past class has performed great but you don’t really believe that the rating services now revere Mongo St. CoRchibal, let alone to the point that they are giving UM a “Mario bump” like the infamous Bama Saban bump, do you???

Say it ain’t so @One9???

I literally just said it’s not the case now but if he gets another couple hits like that it will be. I don’t see why you would outright reject that logic even if you disagree.

I think it would take more years of this and results on the field. And then they still might not give it to him. You’re talking UGA under Kirby and Bama under Saban. Im not sure if Ohio State gets that bump - maybe they do, but that’s it.

I can see maybe OL bumps but even then it’s not a certainty.
