He’d have to play insane ball to finish the season to go R1 imo. Not a knock on him as a player. Just a lot of good ends this year. And next year he’d be the unquestioned #1 end here. Pre NIL he’d be as good as gone.
His production is very good, his measurables are top tier & he will kill at the combine. He will be a 1st or 2nd round pick if he stays healthy this year. He could move into top of the draft next year so there is a legit conversation to be had with him & his people.
You don’t have to convince me. I’m just looking at the guys available, team needs, etc. I know he could play his way into the second tier conversation of ends, which puts him the end of R1/R2 discussion. I think he could move into T10 status if he comes back another year. Is that worth risking injury, do we win a title this season, there’s plenty of factors at play that can sway this decision. Luckily NIL is a thing, so we can at least make the conversation about staying.

@DMoney please turn it up on these guys as possible Williams replacements.

*sr tape looks good so far and i honestly think he can slide inside and be a beast or stick ouyside. No way shape or form id allow him to stick with az state even though its his home state.

*The simple early returns on Cogdon, have me thinking we should go back to that OHIO WELL.

Man ASU ******* sucks **** too....

Unless the OL recruiting has been terrible, I just think we need to invest in a Tackle in the portal.

A lot of yall got ahead of yourself and tried to pencil in Samson as a 1st rd talent. He needs to come back and be a guard.

I like Wilkerson, Campbell, Irvin, Cantwell, Woodrow, Congdon, and SJ, as prospects. Specifically SJ as a C propsect.

A lineup of OT(Portal), Samson, Buchanan, Congdon, and Cantwell, could be really good.

Still got Wilkerson, Irvin, SJ, Woodrow, Campbell, Hawks, and Pickett as the reserves.

The first round chatter wasn't coming only from this board, it was coming from national guys like Landon Tangwell. Samson has not had his best couple of games for sure, but writing him off as a tackle based on a couple shaky games is way more premature than talk of a first round draft position. There are just not many human beings that big, long and strong with feet that move that quickly and coordinated.
He 100% has to clean up the stunt pickup, but I am still bullish on him being a high pick in this years draft.

A few ppl said he looked good against bad competition, that’s it. We know what a 1st rd talent looks like, we literally saw one of our guys go in the 1st rd last draft. He’s nowhere near close to that guy, and he’s not even better than Bell. So I do not think he’s going to be a high draft pick. He’s a good talent that should come back next season and play guard.

It wasn't just that he looked good against bad competition that had some people talking, it was a guy with 5 star pedigree with all of the physical tools you could ask for looking like he finally put it together. There are only so many humans on the planet that can move their feet like he can at his size, and those few get drafted high to play T. It would be better for Miami if he came back next year, but I find that possibility to be extremely remote, especially if the expectation is that he will play G.

Yeah definitely. Is next year's Center on the roster? Will our T be ready?

A couple of Michigan OL should be in the portal in December.

According to Michigan sites, the OL recruited by Harbaugh/Moore were for a power run scheme and haven’t meshed with the zone schemes brought in by OC Jason Beck.

Personally I want C Jake Guarnera, he is from South Florida and has two years starting experience (1 at RG and 1 at C).

Samson is in his 4th year in college, how much better do you think he will get?

U sound like $D money when talks about Arch…..tools, tools, tools. **** them tools, wat does the tape say? Tools without tape don’t mean shii.

I have no idea how much better he will get, but to say a guy in his 4th year in college can't get any better is disingenuous. By this reasoning any rookie in the NFL will never get better after year 1 because they have already played minimum of 4 years of football. I could be wrong and maybe he won't get drafted high, but he certainly has the tools and the pedigree to be so, and a couple shaky games in the middle of the season hasn't changed that opinion for me.

His tape early in the season when he was getting first round chatter from national guys was pretty **** good. I am bullish on hm cleaning up his stunt pick issues from the last few games and showing more **** good tape. Apparently you don't think he will, which is cool, everyone is entitled to their opinion. But I am going to root for our guy to succeed.

Samson is not a finished product. He has 6 (SIX) career starts at OT. Six. It is a very different position than Guard.

The people comparing him to last year’s tackles (in January) need to stop. Not that you will, but you will NEVER be happy because it’s impossible for a dude with six starts at a position to be as good as the 1st rounder who started about 40 games or the 3rd rounder who started about 25. Try waiting until January to assess draft status and comparing to last year’s tackles.

Use the portal for O and D Line. Those are the physically demanding positions that require physical maturity and 3 years (or more) of D1 S&C programs. Dont spend a dollar on skill players. We are good all around.

Plenty. He's only had half of a year of experience at guard and now half a year at tackle.

Need experience when bullets fly and stunts and twists are later developmental things.
Run blocks, pass sets and recognition and call outs then stunts etc.

I mean GMs in the the NFL draft plenty of guys with mediocre tape high because of "tools" every year

Well, I'm not saying that he wont get better, I'm only asking how much better will he get seeing that he's in his 4th year in college, so I'm speaking on the collegiate level.
