What if we do win ?

There is no next coach. Year 4, hovering around .500 is status quo. Get real.

Oh please. Year 5 is a **** thank you gift for staying with us during the whole overhyped NCAA mess. The only difference between Al and his predecessor is Al speaks more articulate english. He talks a good offseason game. I can personally guarantee you Al knows next year HAS to be different or its bye.

Lmao... Next year.

That's a first, haven't heard that before.

We have a president whose on her way out, a pip squeak of an athletic director with probably zero eye-hand coordination, and the board of trustees who nobody really knows about. Who in the line of people even has the power to fire him. What makes you think Donna's last move as a human being at the University of Miami is take the head coach's job away. F Donna by the way; however, I can't help but just assume Al knows he's got one more year to show a legit improvement. Sorry if assuming kills my credibility.

We're seeing eye to eye, except the overall picture. Losing begets losing, and the entire system from the BoT to the admin is fine with that.

If your solution is get lucky with a new president, than I hope youre right, I'm onboard. I'm not a gambling man though, I'd rather the sure thing, which is going 0-12 and forcing their hand. Losing is one thing, but completely failing is another.

Agreed. Your view is probably the more preferred view on this board, but thinking about the way this site and Miami fans in general react to coaching status's and win/loss records, I would prefer finding out sooner rather than later whether our next head coach is legit or not - based on the talent he has in place when he steps in the door. A top ranked recruiting class this year isn't going to save Al's job. He had top talent this year and still sucked. He's going to walk himself out of this job as it is, would rather have a safety net in the depth chart set in place for the next coach. Hopefully the next president loves him or herself some good ole' college football.

I'd love for a new coach to walk into a loaded cupboard, sign me up and every other cane fan on the planet. I'm just not that naive.

Golden is dead man walking regardless of tomorrows outcome. Just keep Scarlett. We missed on the ridiculous run of Collins, Michel, Cook. I won't be able to stomach it if we miss on Scarlett who's bringing up the tail end of that run. Scarlett is the last of the mohicans

just reading this thread makes me sick to my stomach --- mostly, because I agree with all of it... I never ever thought that I would be where I currently am as a fan and it makes me so sad.

I've missed 4 home games since 1995 - I have only not seen a game on tv once in almost that same time period (still ****ed at my friend for allowing his wedding to be during an away game and not setting up TV's) -and I have no interest in watching todays game

That alone ---and coupled with a lame duck coach being one of the worst things for a college team --- is ******* tragic ---- no fan base should ever be at that point -- shame on this administration!

Let me be perfectly clear I hate Al. He's incompetent, refuses to make adjustments, and has brought the program to one of it's lowest lows in years. However, I just don't see anyway he gets fired after this bowl game. He's shown everything there is to know about Al Golden up to this point and for some absurd reason, he is still employed by the University of Miami to ruin a bunch of talented kids football careers. With this all being said, I don't know if I should be rooting for a loss (while obviously rooting for the players) or rooting for a win. A loss would just absolutely dog pile the frustration of Miami fans, media, and former players right on Al's desk. It also theoretically puts us on the fast track for a new head coach sooner than later. Winning, on the other hand, gives a very limited boost in recruiting, but also allows Al another W on his Miami checklist. A bowl win at that. But a win also helps us maintain the Jordan Scarlett's, the Jaquan Johnson's, etc. These kids are blatant studs we can not afford to miss. It would also be nice to send Duke, Denzel, and Chickillo and the older boys out with a win. Should we be rooting for a win or rooting for a loss? What if we did win - the future coaching-wise, recruiting effect, general thoughts?

We will not win, Golden can't coach

Wow, this is the voice of a true fan and spoken with some logic. Agree on almost all points.

Salvaging a recruiting class is the worst thing that could possibly happen.

No. The next coach needs players. I want an Urban Meyer turnkey project, not a five-year rebuild.

Golden isn't going to save his job with recruiting rankings. He needs to win, and his track record says he won't.

This. Certain kids are just going to come here no matter what. Duke as a prime example.

I truly think this program will always have a chance to be good because of the Mark Walton's, the Duke Johnson's, and the other commits we gotten simply because they bleed green and orange. Unfortunately, we're getting to the point were these kids now were about 4 or 5 the last time we really have something special at Miami. One or the other we need to get back soon or we need to make sure these kids now just how ridiculously good we used to be :chargrined:

Miami is going to win today & carry momentum to next season.

Brad Kaaya is going to shine, and carry Miami (with a new defensive coordinator) to the ACC championship game against Deshaun Watson & Clemson in 2015. I'd say 10-2 next year

Won't bank on it, but like what you're drinking. Need a positive buzz heading into recruiting and next season.

I'd say you're either on the staff or related to someone on it.

*** backwards mentality at it's finest...reasoning above is what the BOT has been using for the last decade with outstanding results.

Go root for another team.

*** backwardry at it's finest right here.

With all the threads and back-and-forth on this topic there are still people that hold this *** backwards line of reasoning?

What the **** good does a slightly improved recruiting class do if it means a win which will temporarily by the BOT a little more time and equate to ANOTHER LOST year next year under a horrible coach?

Holy ******* ****.....my mind is honestly blown that some of you can't grasp this concept. This BOT won't act unless things get REALLY bad...how on earth can you NOT be rooting for things to get REALLY bad?
