What I See: Ole Miss Edition

Kewan Lacy is such a weapon, he has 10.4 track speeeeed and flashes it with ease, he is not scared to run inside but he loves to press the hole, have defenders commit and then beat them around the edge for extra yardage. He makes soo many defender miss in the hole its frustrating. Actually both him and Chambliss tend to do this, Chambliss has great wheels, knows how to make initial defender miss, hit check down or get yards and slide down.

Their offense is seems soo uncnventional with the veer n shoot elements Kiffin added with rpo based run game, they tag so many things and make it frustrating. they have been clicking lately. Kiffin talks about listening to his dad, Pete Carroll and Saban thru years and things they hated and incorporated it all in this offense that borrows fro his foundation Norm chow USC days, Bama RPO stuff and the Veer stuff he picked up from Briles. Everything a DC hates he incorporates in his offense, tempo, Dual threat QB, Plus 1 runs, quick passing game, motion, eye candy, false steps, roll outs, RPOs, etc. Just tough to defend overall.

Cautiously excited to see how Hetherman attacks this scheme, will be interesting chess match. I hope we dont do soo much spot dropping country cover 3, rpos will eat that up.. Watching games feel like LSU (earlier in season) and UF (later) did best against it. (UF had at 20 points at end of 3rd qtr before I think a INT and Lacy broke a run down to goalline)

Both semifinal games are gonna be a test of will and see which style makes it to final. Ball control (Miami/Indiana) vs. Uptempo (Ole Miss/UO)..
I hope we mixup looks on Chambliss. Zone, man-fire bliztes, Cover 2, Cover 3, quarters. Make Chambliss think to slow the pass allowing our pass rush time to get home.

The film guys break down was kind of scary.

It shows how the Georgia DLine mauled them, but it didn’t even matter. The passes were out so quick and accurately. They tend throw on first down for 7 yards and take the 3 other downs, by going for it on 4th a lot, to get the remaining 3 yards. As a result, they run a ton of plays. They had lots of success on the back up defenders on the UGA defense who were forced to play as the game went on and the play count went up.

He kept saying, “Miami fans if you’re watching this” getting home on defense with the DLine didn’t matter. They tried some corner blitzes but Chambliss out ran them and played hero ball.

They are tough to beat. Eventually there drives will stall, but you have to keep up with there offensive output.
Eh, UGA’s D-Line is slow as fvck getting up field. They only had 20 sacks all year with 1/4 of them coming against their FCS opponents. They have a bunch of 300 lb dudes who just stand up and start pushing. Bain/Mesi coming off the edge in that wide 9 with that speed will be something Ole Miss hasn’t seen all year.

UGA problem wasn't necessarily in the front 7, it was their reliance on playing man coverage. Thats the difference between us and them. Also UGA had 20 sacks going into that game, we have 46. UGA is a good team, this season they are not in the same league on defense. We are not gonna totally shut them down, we have to clamps in the redzone and keep pounding the rock on Defense

I think this is a game Pringle could see some time because their pass rush isn’t going to be as potent as we have seen the last two games. Pringle has a rep against taint where he messed up in pass pro and I don’t think he came in again. If I remember right
Good observation

They won’t score more than 24 on us. No ow has this defense is different from the SMU game. And we will gash them. Good offense but it’s stoppable if we play it right. Canes by 14
I hope you're right because their offense has really been clicking.

I think if we control the pace of the game by holding onto the ball, I could see us winning by a good margin.

🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾

The thing that worries me is how quickly they can score. This is not the game for us to go up 13-3 and then start slowing down the game. Can’t afford to be inefficient in the RZ bc FGs won’t win against an explosive offense.

Once again, if we play mistake free and very low number of penalities, we should win.
It's a tough balance because Ole Miss actually likes getting into shootouts because it guarantees that their offense will get to touch the ball more. Remember we went up on Syracuse 21-0 last year and they walked us down because we didn't control the pace of the game by running the rock. We kept passing and going 3&out. We go up by 10+ points we need to balance the aggressiveness.

Ole Miss would love being in a 35-38 game.

What type of runs work best against their d? A gap? Outside runs? Off tackle?
Golding's D is multiple. He mixes up his looks. I think we'll be able to have success on inside run game based on what I've seen UF and UGA do. They seem to be more vulnerable to outside run when teams are able to do +1 with their QB.

This is a concern. We've seen how Louisville and SMU beat us doing the same thing. Hopefully Heathermen has something to counter Ole Miss's quick passing game.

That's why I feel it's important to force Chambliss off his first read. That extra second helps the DL get home.

They are #1 offense in nation for a reason. Kiffin offense is always a problem but the talent they have this year is the best they have had.. Instead of handing it to Parrish, they got juiced up Kewan lacy.. Makes a big difference..

Look at how fast that ball came out. He didn't even dropback. Literally catch and shoot. Chambliss is playing basketball on turf.

It's hard to get home when the ball is getting out within 2 seconds. I don't care how fast your DL is. That clip was also interior pressure right up the middle, which is the quickest path to the QB.

Its the do you really want to get into a three point shooting contest with the splash bros in mid 2010s basically.. They are much more comfortable playing that way and they are built and equipped to while also being better at it with #1 offense in country..

We need to dictate and impose our will any means necessary.. They will HAAAATE if they dont touch ball for 8 minutes of game clock

Obviously everyone watched the Sugar Bowl rematch with Georgia, but how’d you feel like Tulane first game compared to Tulane 2nd game?

Also curious as both of their CFP games have been rematches, they haven’t really had to do much game planning from scratch, how well they can gameplan with all the drama with their coaches.
I was at the first Tulane game back in September……they are Tulane up, it was not even a game. The rematch was lore of the same as
Tulane doesn’t have the horsepower to threaten ole miss. Ratzcliff the Qab was running for his life.

Having said that, I’ve watch every Ole Miss game this year and they are MUCH better defensively second half of season.

Chambliss Lacy and D Johnson TE are go to players they rely on. They move Tae around to get matchups esp in Rz or fourth down plays

They spread ball around to WRs

New HC Golding is prob more conservative than Lane….he took the long fg attempts vs going for it on 4th…as kicker is money.

I wanted Georgia ALL DAY over having to deal w Chambliss and the O…Miami
Needs a bro ball game that results in 6-7 minute drives for TDs. Need a few tipped balls and GREAT tackling from D!!!

It’s gonna be a game imo

Agreed but they cant rush past Chambliss or all **** will break loose…rush lane integrity needed - keep him in pocket!!!!!

Excellent analogy!!!!! Yes bro ball would be ideal as long as we get tds at end of them👍

I hear you but so has alot of others yet here we are. We have the players to shut that down. Out line is faster and we only need 4 to collapse the pocket. Also he throws half those throws from the other night our safeties will pick it off

Yup, you can't play straight man against them 75%+ of the time. He is really good agaisnt zone, and they run some really nice passing concepts against zone though. Beyond the UGA game, they cooked LSU's man coverage in the second quarter, despite not even looking Delane's way, which allowed them to take control of the game. Chambliss had a big game on the ground and the TE feasted in man too. But Chambliss hit some huge throws against zone on what proved to be the game-winning drive agaist LSU.

He's just a good QB and they have a really good offense. I think we are better off playing more Cover 3 against them than man though. I don't like our matchups in man agaisnt Chambliss running, their TE, and their WRs deep down the field. But unless they can't run the ball at all and can't block our pass rush, he's going to find open guys against our zone. We just need to get them to the ground immediately and live to fight another play.
