What I See: Ohio State Edition

Going deep is going take time for those routes to get there, got to think that gives Bain & Mesidor a chance to eat, not to mention Keionte on those blitzes. Keep Fitz and JaKobe back deep, reading Sayin.
I think we give that offense problems. Besides a few random series. No one has handled us with our defense that will stay true for this game. As all have said its on Dawson and beck.

They better be able to block or it’s going to be a long night for sayin

I keep seeing this stat appear on different shows that Sayin's ATTT(Average Time To Throw) was 2.6 during the season but against Indiana it was 3.5secs. We need to duplicate this and some.

If we get 15+ QB pressures to go with 10+ qbhits and 4+ sacks, I think we put ourselves in a place to be successful and get the dub.

This is who concerns me most on Ohio State's defense. Special special talent. His ability to close on the ball is special. Downs gets the hype but Reese is the best player on Ohio State's defense in my opinion.

Matt Patricia has watched every Miami game this year. He most certainly will stack the box, and press his corners (cause he does not think we can run by them on the outside). Beck is going to be forced to make throws in man coverage under duress. If Dawson and Beck cant beat this, it will be a long day.
That’s why I believe CJ could have a big game against them. Their corners have been beat deep this season and they have not played any burners at WR.

Agreed. Playing with tempo while using minimal substitutions to prevent Miami from substituting is key to limiting our DL. Louisville and SMU did it. Texas A&M did it on that last drive and it neutralized our pass rush by tiring them out. Good thing that isn't Ohio State's style. Plays right into our hands.
One of the things about OSU's slow style of play during the regular season is that it was deliberate and had a purpose. According to Day, the idea was to run fewer plays per game thus running 1-2 games worth of fewer plays to save wear and tear on the players during a long season.

They did something similar last year then opened it up for the CFP jumping out to big leads early big leads against both Tennessee and Oregon. Day also took a much larger role in play calling during the playoff. Whether that is the plan again this year remains to be seen but it's something to consider because the Buckeyes ARE capable of playing fast.
Looking forward to a banger of a game and a close score either way.

Good listen. His stuff has been posted here before. He looks at a few very specific stats and what they can mean.

-Yards per play
- Red Zone TD vs FG efficiency
-+20s - chunk plays
-3rd down conversion rates
-Turnovers created

Rushing yards per attempt: important to analyze defense

Some surprising data from the stats:
- Miami is the more explosive team on offense (by a small margin)
-OSU doesn't force turnovers often; they focus on getting the opponent to punt them the ball

Miami on Offense
6.28 (28th) YPP
69.09 (27th) Red zone efficiency TD vs FG
56 (53rd) Explosive plays
45.45 (28th) 3rd down conversions
12 (17th) Turnovers

OSU on Offense
6.78(13th) YPP
66.67(35th) Red zone efficiency TD VS FG
54 (60th) Explosive plays
54.93(2nd) 3rd down conversions
9 (8th) Turnovers

Miami on Defense
-4.5 (8th) YPP allowed
-2.87(9th) Rushing YPP allowed
-40 (17th) Explosive plays allowed
-31.43 (13th) 3rd down conversion allowed
- 23 (15th) Turnovers forced

OSU on Defense
-3.94 (2nd) YPP allowed
-2.83 (5th) Rushing YPP allowed
-26 (1st) Explosive plays allowed
-29.01 (6th) 3rd down conversion allowed
-14 (85th) Turnovers forced

Their overall take based on these analytics: Another rock fight, low scoring game...

He is our 50-50 ball monster and we need him to show out against OSU. If he can do that, we win that football game.

Im not taking anything away from Ohio Sts defense as they have NFL and 5 star guys but its tough to gauge what they really are as most if not all the Big Ten teams, other than Ohio St, have no speed and play makers. They didn't play Oregon

We have Toney, CJ, Lofton and IMO the rest are big questions.

The one team they played that matches them physically, Indiana, gave us the way to win
I keep seeing this comment that they played nobody and while they didn’t play the toughest schedule, this sounds exactly what 8-4 fans were saying about who we played.

The BIG is still not only a P4 conference but a top 2 conference according a high majority of pundits. Tejas, Washington, Michigan and Indiana are good teams. **** Illinois was solid this year. Pedo State as bad as they were, has a bunch of talent, kinda like UF.

This Taint team is beatable but I think people on here are starting to lie to themselves what we are facing. We will need an A+ effort from our offense against this team next week.
