What happened to the power running game.

I fully get that you can run powers out of spread. IMO its just not effective unless you have a QB that is at least a threat to run. You can use Taint, Auburn or Baylor as an example but than point to the QBs they have. Brad is a bonafide pocket passer and if we are spreading people out we should be throwing it 90% of the time than. Its just stupidity that he is NEVER under center. QB is the most important position, we finally have one and this dip**** staff has now idea how to generate a running game with him. Unbelievable quite frankly.

Agreed, there is absolutely no excuse but sheer stupidity to not operate more from under center. At the very least it takes pressure off of the o-line and makes the plays a little less predictable. And how about we get to the line and snap the ball?

I can guaranfuggintee you that if we came to the line and hiked the **** ball we would have less pres snap penalties instantly.

This small stuff is exactly why golden cant get over the hump

How does being under center take pressure off the OL? And why does it make you less predictable?

Before i answer, have you ever played football in the front seven of at least high school and above?

So, im wrong in knowing that being under center gives the offense and the playcaller more deception as you can run more plays out of under center/power formations than you can out of pistol and shotgun? As a defender in the front seven, its much easier to defend against shotgun and pistol teams at times because of how predictable the playcalls can be as you can only run certain plays out of those formations successfully if youre not an overall spread team. Being under center prepares your mind for physical football making it easier to execute playaction and 3 to 5 drop passes. its the reason why most of the championship winners on both levels of football(ncaa/nfl) run the offense under center.

Exactly.

Wrong.

Here's homework for all you doubting that you can have a power run game out of the spread.

Find the Bama vs * game from last year. Watch Elliot and * smash through Bamas D for 4 quarters and make them quit. 284 yards on the ground, 500+ total on the D everyone loves to talk about.

The 2 teams in the Super Bowl last year run most of their offense not under center. Packers are the same.

FSU in 2013-14, Ohio St last year. UF with Tebow, Auburn, etc etc.

You want power running?

Tom Herman is for you. Here's what Tom Herman's philosophy is on offense.

When the Pats and the Seahawks run tyhe ball its mostly under center. When bama runs the ball its mostly under center. when fsu runs the ball its mostly under center. Wtf are you watching. Sure ,they operate out of the shotgun. But for the run game. the most succes comes from under center.

Randy shannon did say urbans team is nothing but a power run team set up off of play action. But with his overall spread design its a lot more deceptive and clearly not many coaches are matching what hes doing.

Bottom line. put kaaya under center during the run game and just like we did last year and we will have much more success in playction and run game. simple as that.

I wonder what he would do with Kaaya? seems like he likes a running QB. I think his hire would change the type of QB we would recruit, and Allison would probably be gone

WTF are YOU watching? Apparently you're not watching OSU.

Again, you can use any running concept in the shotgun. Same concepts you use under center.

I've always felt like the best QB's were guys like Elway or Young or Moon, or to a lesser extent a McNabb. Think about those types of great college QBs. Troy Smith. Marcus Mariota. Vince Young. Equally proficient running and passing. The best QB in the NFL is that way in that he can kill you running for firsts and TD's in the red zone. Herman can adapt to Kaaya for a year or 2 while he recruits his type of QB.

Again you are wrong

I can't find the whole season but first 13 games last year (Seahawks):

Run from shotgun: 245 attempt 1471 yards 6.0 ypc
Run from under center: 166 attempts 792 yards 4.8 ypc
