What happened to Shane Larkin?

I tried searching the forums but couldn't find anything. Last I saw he had signed a 2 year deal with the Nets just last year, but this year he's playing on Saski Baskonia in Spain on a one year contract. Looking at his stats last year it seemed like he was improving and playing more so I'm curious as to what happened.

He tried to hold out for a bigger contract and they ended up passing up on him and signing someone else so he was left out in the dark
