What happened to our lines?

Good question
Very surprised to see us get dominated
Unable to run the g dam ball at goal one is annoying as F
Schematically would love to run from under center OR in five wide set versus having our ****** blocking TEs in there and cramming the box

Same .. but I still don't understand how the line can play so well one week and then look so bad the following week.

Their jobs aren't that complex.. it's mostly lining up against the guy in front of you and beating him. I know there's gaps and protections and blitzes that need to be picked up but today they were just constantly being blown off the line one on one... It was sad to see..

The 2 lines being so dominant is what gave me hope for the rest of the season.

Both the DL and OL which looked unstoppable vs A&M last week were bullied like middle school kids today by MTSU?

How?
I don't think the DLine was bullied at all - I thought they were fine.

The vast majority of their offence was short field (thanks TVD) or just throwing it up to WRs who were torching our slow af DBs. Not much the DLine can do about that.

OLine - yeah, they took a step back this week. Didn't help that we were running into loaded boxes most of the night though.

Good point
There isn’t much to respect w the passing game
Who can get deep? No one
When our primary play in the passing game is to throw to the TE on a leak out in the flat, it’s not very scary so the d can load the box

You're right..the DL played ok... Not dominant but played ok..

Mentally shot after the first 2 TVD interceptions...

If an OLineman gets "mentally shot" after a few picks, he needs to sit. The best Lineman are wired to want to dominate the guy across from him on EVERY play.
Every kid needs to understand that a workout will not get you drafted, good tape will. Al Davis is gone. If you want to put out bad tape, it's going to be an uphill battle for someone to give you a shot. I would hate for these kids to think back years later and wonder what could have been.

It was almost like they were expecting this... and gave up when it actually happened.

TVD must've been stinking it up in practice.

The opposing team knew what was coming
I thought the same thing. I said this in a couple other posts, but it was like their defense was 5 steps ahead of us all game. Lazy game planning by our coaching staff and MTSU coaching staff did their homework.

Go back to TVD's first interception. Initially, I thought it was just another innaccurate pass by TVD. Now, it was definitely a bad pass by TVD, but that play was doomed from the start. He threw into double, almost triple coverage. Forced a pass into small window. I honestly believe MTSU had an idea what that play was going to be. Still, a bad decision by TVD, but MTSU was all over that play.
