What happened to our LB's....

The problem is Diaz & our S&C.

Not understanding the S&C; hence why I didn’t fall for the ole “we now have big boys” comments that’s been made. Something is off; OL gets pushed back and our DL is not as dominant at the point of attack like the last couple of years, either.

What games are you watching lol, especially this season so far. Please don't tell me that was your hot take!

Pinckey just had a great game.

Shaq has been solid all season.

McCloud doesn't play much vs spread teams it looks like.

Another hilarious CIS lynching session. Now I see why Shaq's dad left. We've played 3 ******* games, and its really 2 since they barey played vs SSU. How can you say they suck based on so little?

Homer alert

they are SLOW. I'm not part of the S&C conspiracy group either. Other than big hits McCloud was probably always overrated. As for Shaq and Mike, they are just average guys. Mike flashes good instincts at times but for the most part he is prone to over pursuit/gambling wrong and misses quite a few tackles. Shaq is too slow to play MLB and isnt able to fly sideline to sideline...he also misses tackles...i would rate his instincts as below average.

not trying to knock them but that's my opinion. I wish we would make a commitment to recruiting LBs with speed and instincts...I imagine there's no shortage of that in sofla hs football. Someone started a thread last week asking what type of defense would we prefer if given the choice...I'd like to see something that resembled the dolphins defense of the late 90s-early 00s under Jim Bates. I think he ran something similar to the tampa-2 but with blitzes/zone blitzes incorporated. It's based on block eaters at DT (2 big men who can eat blocks and get up field), with DEs who can set the edge first and rush the passer...athletic LBs who might be a bit undersized but can run line to line. Press man on the outside with 2 deep.

Diaz blitzes so much and its funny because under dorito we complained we didnt blitz enough. Diaz fills that void but i dont think we generate nearly enough pressure or get home enough to justify the numbers we send regularly. I would like to diaz incorporate more zone blitzes which I think would still create threat of pressure but also help cover for our inexperience in the secondary, especially if JJ misses time.

Buddy we were #1 in sacks in all of college football last year. Just saying...

Especially when 2 of the 3 opponents have been a DII hidden gem and a G5 team
Mostly Everyone has played multiple cupcakes thus far and they are doing what you want to see your team do vs that completion. When they played an elite top 5/top 10 team LSU they gave up
less than 300 yards total
Qb was 5-16 on throws 5 or more yards down the field
11-24 140 yards overall
41 rushes for 156 yards 3.8 ypc

Not to mention the 3rd down defense has really improved even if you take out Savannah state numbers it still is an elite number.

Just last year toledo was 13-23 for 3rd downs and were like 2-11 on 3rd down this last week

We have a really good group of LBs.

Are there any Roquan Smith and Devin White types? I don't see that speed. But our LBs are national championship caliber. Least of our problems.

LOL stop. You're talking about a group of guys who get out ran by Toledo level athletes.

If I knew how to snip and clip YouTubes showing were Shaq has been pushed back and bounced off many tacklers, where Joe Jackson is trying to use bull rushes and going no where; things I actually commented on in the game threads, I would.

I don’t watch games w my heart so that everything is sunshine and unicorns; I watch them w my eyes. There’s a reason these threads (although a bit much) keep popping up. Other fans are watching w their eyes, as well.

I agree to a certain extent.

We’ve played a against transfer QB, DII QB, and a true freshman G5 QB. The middle is still getting gashed. But thus far, we have been much better on 3rd down on D

No. We’re talking about a group of guys that held a team that just held a team that averages over 600 ypg on offense (including the 522 they put on us last season) and 40 ppg to 300 yards and 24 points.

They had also beaten 6 out of their last 8 P5 opponents at home.

You mention the Dline hasn't been dominant but now you're pulling Shaq into the conversation. Stay on topic about your BS Dline quote lol. And if you watch your eyes, then I don't know how you can possibly say the Dline hasn't been dominant this year, unless you just don't know football! I don't bro, but I think there's like 3 other players on the Dline, but maybe that's just me seeing Unicorns and Sunshine at the games.

Gashed in terms of what passing?( vs LSU dean gave up 93 of the 140 yards). Toledo we had 2 breakdowns with Michael Jackson, quarterman got exposed early on in a 1 on 1 pass situation with a running back and a miscue with bandy and redwine who ran into each other and the receiver scored. Because it definitely ain’t because of teams running the ball well agaisnt Miami. Like Diaz said today the defense has been playing at a very high level for majority of games but lie the second quarter and really the 3rd quarter vs Toledo they obviously had some lapses and were inconsisten. That’s got to get fixed

Pinckney has wiffed on several tackles this year for some reason. ...one thing I notice, he rarely takes on bigger running backs; he's always diving for shoelace tackles against anyone over 200lbs!

He does diagnosis the play well, but has a habit of leaving his feet too early, great when he gets there, but he's out of the play when he misses altogether.

I would like to see McCloud in the tackle box more often, excluding obvious passing downs.
