Several of us posted earlier in the week about what we would like to see tonight.

I haven't seen the tape yet but IMO we got everything we could have possibly wanted.

Big crowd
Excellent stadium improvements
Better looking cheerleaders
No injuries
Few penalties
Excellent ST's - loved the kickoff coverage
Dominating the LOS
Didn;t give up big plays
Lot of kids got PT
Run the ball successfully - 3 100 yard RB's is a new one on me

MY number one wish was to see an organized team and they most certainly were better prepared tonight than IMO we have been in many years. I expected the offense to click but the defense was set and looked like they knew what the **** they were doing for a change. No guys running in and out - no finger pointing and yelling at each other. We just looked prepared.

Offense - we are simply loaded. Richards looked big fast and aggressive. Both TE's are weapons. Yearby who is not my favorite looked a half step quicker and ran like a guy that wants to start. Walton looked good and Gus was terrific knocking people over and then outrunning their entire defense. Brad was good not great but I expect him to be almost perfect. BB is a baller. Will check out the OL on replay. free action movies
Defense - We have got 2 outstanding corners. maybe the best in a long time as the new kid Colbert looks like the real deal and Corn is Corn.
DL did an outstanding job. Demetrious Jackson had a great night and so did Chad who they had a really hard time with. Jenkins had an excellent night tackling as usual. the LB's i really can't say until I see the tape.

Bottom line for me is that we were a whole lot better prepared. We did have a little letdown 2nd quarter when they went quick tempo and picked on the middle but it was fixed halftime.

Brad took a hard sack and the OL who blew the assignment got absolutely reamed by a coach for a full 5 minutes and then by 2 players. It was intense. free horror movies

I know it was only FAMU but WE did what WE were supposed to do which is dominate and we did.

Come see the team guys. Next weekend is another 6PM start. best comedy movies
Parking is only $15 with a Sunpass

Did you say "No Injuries"? We just lost our 4th LB(first kid off the bench) from a unit already ravaged by injuries and dismissals. DT Coutrel Jenkins also hurt but I don't know the specifics. I want some of what you're smoking.

Everything else probably went as well as could have been expected but **** this constant attrition at LB is really starting to threaten what could otherwise be a season of exceeding expectations. At this rate Pinckney, Quarterman and McCloud will have to play every snap.

I think the biggest take away is( and c'mon, UM played FAMU) was we saw a team that really seemed to be having fun and playing fast. I think this upcoming week will be pretty much the same( or at least thats my hope) and then they get their first real test on Sept 17th

But at the very least there is a good energy and vibe about this program for the first time in a long time

I'll second that and go a little further. I noticed the same thing almost immediately. The vibe and energy as you say were completely different from what we've seen the past few years. This team exudes confidence and poise. Gone was the confused indecision which was the defining element of Fat Al's teams. In it's place was the confident self assuredness and genuine enthusiasm usually seen in a well coached team.

I can't overemphasize the huge difference in body language and demeanor displayed by this team. These guys must have been absolutely miserable for the past 5 years. Freshman aside these guys are finally having fun after being psychologically chained up in the basement of some fat mediocre loser with a control fetish.

Other than the loss of Gordiner for the season I'd say great night and no complaints.

A few blown coverages and mistakes but hey, New offense and new defense and first game that is expected

The 4 things that jumped out at me.

1. the right side of the OL is far better than the left at run blocking. A little concerned about the left side vs better competition.
2. Shaq is a Fr All American
3. Our WR's had more effective blocks in one game than the past 2 years under Golden.
4. Our defensive mindset is a polar opposite from last few years. Very aggressive at every position

It was nice but people are forgetting that the opponent was FAMU. Which was 1-10 last year, in a bad conference even by FCS standards.

Wait another game or 2 before many judgements can be made.

First off, FAMU would struggle against our scout team. They were bad. But we did what you should do to bad teams.
We saw an OL playing stronger than ever gougin huge holes in the FAMU defense.
We saw 3 backs capable of breaking long ones.
I saw that Christopher Herndon really should be starting over Njoku. I had my doubts. The fact that Njoku is now our second best tight end says we are deep indeed at that position. Kid avg 17ypc last year.
Question, is this 3 headed monster for real?
