What can we take away from the early effects of the Transfer Portal dudes

we can thank Martell for Jarren, in my opinion. In my opinion, it was Tate, probably unbeknownst to him, that got Jarren the job. Tates dedication to the playbook, work ethic and effort to win the job, made Jarren step up.
Competition is vital at any position. Unfortunately, in the past we've had too many people get jobs handed to them instead of earning them. Combined with Dan Enos' quarterback coaching, I have no doubt that Williams, Martell and Perry are all much better than they've ever been.

Not sure what some of you guys were expecting from the transfers.

The older guys (Hill, Osborn, Nnoruka, Kennedy) were never superstar type players. If they were, they wouldn't have transferred here. They were solid contributors for their previous teams who were looking for one last chance to make an impression on pro scouts. It's unlikely any of them would have been drafted after last season. Maybe Osborn late.

The younger guys (Martell, Bolden, Phillips) were highly rated recruits that weren't happy at their previous schools for a variety of reasons. These guys are probably more likely to make bigger impacts but since two of them haven't even played a snap yet, it might be a bit overzealous to label them anything right now. They all still have at least three years (including this one) of eligibility remaining.
