What can Miami afford?

How much to Richt? Do his assistants get paid? What is left in the coffers for new HC and staff ?
Most times assts other than coordinators are on year to year contracts so their pay shouldn’t be an issue.

Manny left and temple is paying him and we didn’t have an OC.

And in case y'all forgot, we're getting a HUGE surplus of cash in 2019 from the ACC network.

I'm talking big time conference payouts, the ACC was ranked dead last amongst the P5 in TV revenue because the ACC network still hasn't rolled out in the same capacity as the SEC network, B1G network & the Fox TV deal that the Big XII has along with their ESPN deal. But starting next year we should be getting upwards of $40mill a year in TV money.

For comparison:

The B1G doled out $51.1million per school in TV Revenue payouts (Mich, Oh St & Penn St)
The SEC was $40.9mill per school (Bama adds on their own revenue in ticket sales & merch)
The Big XII was $34.3mill per school (Texas like Bama has an unlimited Warchest, plus the Longhorn network)
The Pac-12 was $31.5mill per school (USC & Oregon being the top cash cows)
The ACC was just $26.9mill per school

So the money is & will be there, it's solely up to the Administration how they choose to allocate the funds, but anybody saying "we broke or can't afford" is flat out bull****tin.

Ugh. Butch Davis solves so much problems. It just makes sense based on the state of our program.

- He is cheap. Check.
- The fan base will be happy with the hire and willing to wait. Check
- He has an eye for talent in an era where we are struggling to get elite prospects on a consistent basis. Check.
- He has been coaching up FIU to new heights. This isn't the same as 2015 where he was at ESPN. Check.
- He would get to coach Miami without the NCAA baring on his neck and better facilities. Check
- He understands Miami football. Check
- He understands Miami Recruiting. Check
- Recruits in SFL knowing his track record of turning players into 1st round draftee. Check.
- Can Sell the program.

Everything makes sense as to why bringing. Even if it fails it would not be expensive to get rid of him if he doesn't retire.

Don't give me crap about age. Saban is like 67 and he still has that fire in his belly. Why would Butch be any different? Oddly enough people are clamoring for the last guy we passed on who coached at FIU. Let's not make that mistake again?

I see you on everything my dude. But Mario is basically Butch 25 years younger. I’d personally be okay with either.

Having dealt with the BOT directly over the years, I can say the current mentality is not about nickel and diming anymore. There is a willingness to spend money that did not exist previously.

Loved Butch back in the his day. Problem is that none of the kids we're recruiting were even born when he coached at UM.
