For the first time on his career, Golden will have beaten a team that finishes the season with 9 wins (Duke).

He'll also have beaten a team that beat another team that finishes the season with 10 wins (VT vs OSU).

We gave up 526 yards to VT and Duke (combined) this year. We gave up more than that to EACH of them last year. That's progress of some sort. Of course, it can be argued that we had no business giving up that much yardage to those teams last year, and that would be true, IMO. But, any improvement is welcomed.

Here is the issue, all we did was replace two teams from last year

2013:

Duke: 48 Points and 543 Yards
and
VT: 42 Points and 549 Yards

with two different teams from this year

2014:

UL: 31 Points and 336 Yards
and
GT: 28 Points and 371 Yards

This isn't improvement, the result is still the same (we lost all 4 games). This is merely a circle jerk.

Improvement doesn't mean replacement and the same result.
