****Full Selection Choices for some context****
Never forget this is the long game, this the war most people knew we signed up for. Highs and lows, massive wins and mind-numbing defeats. And yet, everything still sits in front of us, within reach…albeit with seismic adjustments required.
It’s hard to quantify groups, but I want to gauge the public’s opinion on our Head Coach midway through Year 4. I think the timing is ideal, as we’ve been smacked back to reality…while technically still in control of some preseason expectations + in possession of a talented roster. Obviously the current temperature of the board won’t see it, but I still believe at 11-1…even with no ACCCG appearance, is good enough to at least make the playoff. No margin for error, however. Not one ounce of it - we have to win, and we have to look good doing it.
I’ve seen some interesting comments thrown around in various threads, truthfully on both extremes - from “Mario deserves no blame, he didn’t throw the interceptions tonight” to “fire him”.
If your opinion has changed on Mario, I welcome anyone to expound upon why. If anyone still believes in him to the highest level, fair game to elaborate. I won’t blame you. You want him gone, you think he’s our James Franklin or UGA version of Mark Richt? Fine by me, go for it. How long are you giving Mario before your opinion becomes more solidified? Are you giving him more time at all? Is this year, specifically, your boiling point? Was this game your boiling point?
Genuinely curious where the board sits, especially the manner in which we lost yesterday. I look forward to the responses, appreciate it in advance. Go Canes.
- Trust Lvl 10: I still expect 1+ National Championships out of MC and an era of dominance
- 8-9: Mario will have us competing routinely in the playoffs and winning multiple conference championships before his tenure is over
- 6-7: Mario will occasionally make CFP and have us near the top of the ACC (including winning a conference championship or two), while maintaining a talented roster. However, we’ll still be left wanting more from our teams and some years, wondering “what-if”.
- 3-5: Mario might luck his way into relevancy once every four-ish years to prolong his future here, but he’ll rarely have us in the CFP or ACCCG and ultimately be the main reason this team never achieves its full potential.
- 2-0: I have given up hope and believe Mario must be fired, scratch the whole operation.
