What All Teams/ESPN Feared

It is common knowledge that The U sits atop a diamond mine of talent, great environment and social scene to boot. No school with exception of usc can boast of have those attributes. It also is not commonly known or accepted that all schools, media (especially ESPN) and sports commentators, knew that if Miami's BOT and Administration took football seriously, we would be the juggernaut we once were and they all fear and despise. Well their worse fears have come to fruition as Miami's BOT and Administration have changed course and brought in a highly skilled HC and assistants. Remember many of the media hail from the big conference schools and know that Miami will take it's rightful place at the Top of college football soon and the negativity will come as often as possible to curb recruits interest in The U. Everything no matter how small will be highlighted to a serious offense. That's why it's important our kids be as well behave as possible.

I've had the same thought process. If past dumbass administrations realized they were sitting on a steady income stream, we'd have every resource we need, and in turn the University would benefit from both $$$ and great exposure. Instead idiots like Shalala ruined a vast income stream and tons of free advertisement.

This mentality is in line with all of the S. No, I grew up here....Broward county by itself is the bandwagoning capital of the world and my friends have switched favorite teams like they've switched underwear

Well of course they are. What have we done lately besides have garbage coaches & underdeveloped talent? That I believe is about to change though.

90% of the people I knew and know growing up in Miami are fans of the Dolphins, Panthers, Heat, and UM. Miami has a substantial population of people that move here from other places, they root for the other teams.

1) Beat FSU

3) ACC title game
4) Bowl Victory

The fence will be dang near complete.

That should be the two year goal and by year 3, I firmly believe we will start being a constant playoff/national title contender.

The turning point in the recruiting process is beating FSU. Once Miami can do that we will truly be at the top of the recruiting game in SFL. FSU is the current powerhouse in the state of Florida and once that is derailed, Miami's journey to National Champions will then begin.

The rivalries in Florida determine everything in these recruiting grounds.

Mark is clearly the best coach we have had since Butch. If he beats FSU and wins Coastal, the every kid will be watching. Then it will all be on Mark to recruit at something approaching Butch's level and we be on the road. Mark didn't cut it at UGA but even Larry won here with great players.

That time is now. Those games are not toss-ups. We lost due to coaching for the most part, not talent. That's not the state of the U anymore. Time to move on in reality if not in your mind.

I agree with OP in the sense that the rest of the college football world (Bama, Clemson, FSU etc.) fear what Miami can, and should be. They know good and well how much they've benefited from our ****** coaching this past decade.

However, I disagree about the media fearing Miami being on top. Yes, the media loves to beat up on Miami and paint us as the "bad guy." But that's because anything Miami-related sells. Stories about Miami, good or bad, brings clicks. Miami games bring viewers. ****, we've been ****** for ten years and we still get put on ESPNU against ******* Wake Forest or Georgia Tech. Those games meant nothing, but the Miami name itself brings views. Yes, ESPN is in bed with the SEC, but they still don't get the #1 SEC game every week; CBS does. But they do get the ACC's top game of the week. You don't think ESPN would love to put Miami on national TV as often as possible? Miami brings viewers. Of course Canes fans from all over the country will tune in and root for Miami, but also all the haters who want to see us down will tune in and root against.

9 games isn't a turning point. Al freakin Golden won 9 with an equally easy schedule in 2013. Beat FSU and or ND, win 10, and win the Coastal. Winning 9 this year, with this schedule, should be a given. 10 is a leap forward.
