What’s up with Alabama? 48th ranked recruiting class

And Clemson

People might forget that during their run, they had a handful of DL players that were slated to be 1st-2nd rd draft picks that magically decided to come back for their senior seasons. Who turns down that $$$ to come back for another year of college?

The programs crying the most are the ones that had their “lock” on under the table deals that gave them a leg up.

And in these days, Saban would have to face schools that decided to follow his model of having expansive off the field support staffs. Saban was a great coach, but for much of his tenure he benefited mightily from having a support staff structure that no other school could match.

He had a historic run, but he couldn’t adapt to keep the advantage he had enjoyed.
Not saying Saban was a bad coach or anything close but it’s funny when he didn’t have the luxury of buying all the best players when he went to the NFL he sucked.
So is it a coincidence that when he had to coach on an even level was when he sucked the most….

They'll get theirs. We've locked up so many top guys early it's easy to forget it's only June.
IDK man.... they will obviously get some players, they aint finishing at 48, I agree there but I do not really see a path to a top 10 class.

With NIL I think the old days when we would have the #1 class in summer and slowly watch it erode during the season as Bama's class grew is somewhat obsolete now. With NIL kids are signing contracts early and even early signing day has lost a lot of luster and I am unsure why the original signing day is still a thing lol.

I also think getting flips is harder than it was pre nil but obviously still happens. It is only June but only 12 top 50 commits remain uncommitted. So banking on flips during the NIL era on a team that is unlikely to run the table and win a championship this year and has some self righteous boosters that do not believe in bidding wars for kids seems like a recipe for disaster.

So I do think it is a $ problem for them. Does anyone here think Saban has SO much love and integrity for the game that he feels it is his absolute duty to go parade in front of congress about how NIL is ruining the sport? Or is it more probable than not that he is a guy that cheated his way under the table to win, backstabbed employers (dolphins) to make moves to further his own agenda and perhaps still has ties in Bama where he was walking on water for 16 years and Bama is complaining about the current atmosphere and he is simply helping out his own buddies for personal financial gain?

They will get a bunch of blue chips to commit between now and signing day and flip some kids also and be up in the top 15 depending on how many they choose to take. Same with LSU.
Name brand alone will get them in the top 20 with little effort on the trail.
I doubt it

Not going to name names….but they are still paying for past years and players.

Not directly to them, but paying back what was owed. Same for some other schools.

The bill has come due….especially since it’s no longer elite product on the field.

I believe it just wondering how you would no this ?

I mean do Saban and these pretend journalists (who won’t speak up/investigate) think we’re all stupid?

When the SEC had a corner on the market of under the table bag money, nobody was complaining, especially Saban.

Now, it’s a federal issue, which needs federal legislation. Give me a ******* break. You know what’s a federal issue? Conspiracy to defraud the internal revenue service. Which is exactly what the SEC bag schools did.

Someone I know who “donated” told me directly.

Said that car dealerships weren’t ever giving the cars away, they were paid for by donors.

Almost like nobody actually wants to go there when they can get paid elsewhere.

Indeed..Its rough out there in them sticks. Competition been heating up for Bama on the field and here we are this yr with recruiting. Things are way off program at bama.

Ah I see it’s time for the annual “Bama doesn’t have the money to recruit in an NIL world” before they wind up with yet another top 3 class.

What the **** is going on in Tuscaloosa? No way Deboer lasts another season with this recruiting class unless he makes the playoff and goes on a run
He’s in over his head. He can’t recruit like he did at Washington and keep his job at Bama.
