Exactly. There are a lot of sophomores in our 2 deep rotation but they have the same amount of experience as a lot of teams juniors and seniors because of the depth issues that Golden has run himself into not being able to hold onto guys that we sign.

You can't view Darling, Linder, Jenkins, Owens, Berrios, Yearby, Thomas, etc as Sophomores because they played enough last year that you cant use youth as an excuse.

As a head coach you can control whether or not you are FORCED to play freshman and sophomores by recruiting well and keeping your players around and developing them right. But here we are in the area where young guys with no experience or that would RS anywhere else are forced to play. Whereas at most good programs the only time a freshman and even sophomore plays is when they are just good enough and show out, and those teams are usually the ones that win like OSU did last year. Lots of underclassmen stepped up.

just a vicious cycle....2011 (new process), 2012 (being too young); 2013 (depth); 2014 (cliques; not buying into the process); 2015 (being too young).

you see, just a vicious cycle of the same excuses. too bad for AL, the whole nation saw Urban win a chip last season and the commentators made sure to mention each chance they got as to how young OSU's squad was last year to elevate Urban's status as one of the greatest coaches in CFB history. Literally, this is Al's last ride here.

Two kids get kicked out of school for rape charges. Al's fault. Kid gets drunk and passes out on the dorm steps with a bag of weed hanging out of his pocket and then fights the cops and gets tased. Al's fault. Kid steals a laptop out of another student's dorm room and gets kicked out of school. Al's fault. Kids get suspended multiple times for using weed. Al's fault. Kids take money and gifts against NCAA rules and get suspended. Al's fault. Administration orders football to cut back on scholarships in order to avoid more severe penalties from the NCAA so we only have 75 scholarship players on the roster. Al's fault. Kids leave because they're not getting the playing time they 'deserve'. Al's fault.
Kids receive scholarships and are forced to retire due to injury. Al's fault. Kids graduate early and leave to take a job in the real world with eligibility left. Al's fault. Kids don't choose to come here because they actually have to perform in the classroom in order to do so. Al's fault. Kids choose not to come here because every other coach they talk to is telling them there will be no TV games, no bowl games, massive scholarship reductions, and maybe there won't even BE a team. Al's fault. Get real.

Wow, what an apologist.

USC had ACTUAL sanctions - severe at that - not a nebulous cloud, and still pulled in studs year-in and year-out.

We have at least as good of recruiting base as USC in our backyard. There is simply no reasonable excuse for Al's ongoing unmitigated disaster as a head coach and recruiter.

@ Clwtrdan: Nice try, Golden apologist. Golden is the HEAD COACH of the student athletes that play football here. So yes, player's extracurricular activities are under his jurisdiction. But let's step aside from that for one moment....

let's talk other realities that you neglected to mention:

-30% of HIS COMMITTED recruited classes never even step foot on Miam's campus (yes, that's Al's fault).

-0-4 against FSU, the only coach in the last 35 yrs to start 0-4 against our bitter rival to begin their career (yes, that's Al's fault)

-0-3 down the stretch of November against teams w/ a combined record of 18-20 to finish the season (yes, that's Al's fault)

-over the last 2 years in the month of November and December, a combined record of 3-8 which has consistently knocked us out of ACC contention (yes, that's Al's fault)

-Sub .500 record against teams that have a winning record in his coaching career (again, Al's fault)

-Sub .500 record against teams that began and stayed in the top 25 (Al's fault)

-creating a defensive scheme that's not fitting his PERSONAL recruited players (Al's fault)

-0 innovation on either side of the ball (that's Golden's fault due to his refusal in making staff adjustments)

-Kids choose not to come here b/c we went 6-7 this year and 8-11 over our last 19 games including 0-2 in bowl games (Al's Fault)

So while you are attempting to make excuses for Golden (although there's no need to since Golden does just fine doing that himself), I needed to highlight why he doesn't deserve to be here. Butch had his struggles w/ 30 scholly's missing, not 9. And w/ a truly depleted roster, Butch STILL found a win against FSU w/in his first 4yrs here. Now, do me a favor and GET REAL.

I think it's much worse than just "sub .500."

How many teams has he beaten that stayed in the top 25? It's one or none. I can't recall.

drifters1234: I posted it in another post. I think it was like 1-16. and his pct against those who finished the season w/ a winning record was like .371. I just said sub .500 b/c I didn't feel like going into detail and busting the apologist bubble as to how horrific Golden is.

Thx. Was Duke the only top 25 team?

Lulz at Alf not being responsible for his players.

There are 25 year olds in the military in charge of twice the amount of teenagers with one-tenth the amount of guffaws.

What exactly is his job, if not lead? Look fat and pasty? Because he's gotta be top 5 at that in SoFla.

There is much truth in ClearwaterDan's post above. That said, none of the kids mentioned have anything to do with golden's defense costing us the Ga Tech game, or the Nebraska game, or the UVA game or the Pitt game, or the South Carolina game. We went 6-7 last year because al golden is simply not a good coach.

Moreover, the failures listed in Dan's post above fall more on the athletic department and donna shalala herself than al golden, but I think dan know's this and simply wanted to deflect away from golden for a minute. How many of the kids mentioned in the quoted post would have been kicked out of many other football power programs for a first offense? Im gonna guess not as many as were at UM. Furthermore, it was donna's lack of institutional control, followed by her overly done, self imposed scholarship and bowl ban that lead to the examples listed above. The failures at UM go well beyond just the incumbency of al golden.

How does the saying go? Coaches and QB's get too much credit for the win, and too much blame for the loss?

Well Golden has a **** ton of losses. Every factor that leads to those losses ultimately is his problem. Hey, how about you vet the kids you are giving the scholarship to a little more thoroughly next time? Golden's fault.

One Correction. We have, without a shred of doubt, the best recruiting base in the country. ONLY Al can find a way to contest this KNOWN FACT.
