Well this is interesting.....TIFWIW.

Is there a correlation between size at RB and ability to convert short yardage runs…no not really. Best short yardage back we’ve had Imo was Duke..and he was 5-5 in the league on such runs in 20/20(small sample size I know) no

yea in theory you’d think bigger backs covert at the highest rate but in reality it depends on your Oline, and your RBs ability to get to top acceleration when hitting the crease.

Thad at 240 is a little eye-popping, but let's not forget he's a true freshman. I'm not sure when summer workouts started but the heat + workouts should have him shedding some weight. Presumably, if he can settle at some weight around 222-228, that might be a good playing weight for him.

Like, I know Cribby referenced Gil being a little out of shape earlier in the year but I was actually in the sauna with Gil, Steed, Ivey and Scaithe (cue the jokes) w/in the last 3 weeks and Gil seemed to be in good shape. I have no doubt when the kids aren't training with the team, no training table, etc., they end up a little out of shape. Hope that's the case for Thad.
Gil showed up to spring ball out of shape , which is a bad look for a leader and upperclassmen. I'm sure he got right when he saw chase coming for dat ***. Thad is a whole different story

This was what I said about the subject:

Well your theory is wrong:

My only issue and it's a minor one is he runs very upright. But he's big, has good enough speed, seems to have good vision, and doesn't go down easily.
Was thinking the same. Feels like nitpicking but if he can lower his pads a little bit he could really use his size as a weapon.

I wondered who Jake Garcia was talking to when he posted that quick video of him and bunch of people working out on their own. He said something like, "Quit playing and let's work." I wondered if he was talking to one or more teammates. This thread has me wondering even more. lol

He’s also behind at least three guys. Maybe the plan is to take it slow with him. He’s been on campus for what, two months? Let’s revisit this in fall camp, give him a chance.
Fall camp is a month away. It's time now.

I think I read an article on the Athletic where Manny Navarro, talked about how not only was Cody really good at football but super talented at soccer and had over a 4.0. As @DMoney has mentioned before grades aren’t everything but they can show that you have a discipline/focus to you.

Hopefully this competition pushes Thad but at least we know Cody will be a solid one.

You think my theory is wrong because you linked a couple threads proving the exact point I made? If defenses are scheming against IZ and Miami keeps pounding it anyway then it follows that it's a core part of their offensive identity and they want backs who can run it well.

Gil is in good shape, just wish he’d be more locked in with off the field working and less social media

People are sleeping on thad, imo.

Heard this also, and struggling is putting it lightly.. Heard he was being a knucklehead and some guys mixed it up because of it.. Wont say much more but rb depth chart is influx and there is a reason they are tryna expedite Chaney.. Thad had major opportunity but he not bout that life
I Guess If You Say So GIF

he is 240?! Jeezus, I missed that. I imagine that’s bad weight, especially bad for a guy who is not a quick twitch guy. He wasn’t called Thud for nothing.
