Well this certainly doesn’t sound great

Top 5 class @ 7-6 last year with one of the most embarrassing losses ever. To a chance to win 12+ games, heisman candidate QB, possible playoff berth, and a possible top 15 recruiting finish?

Go crazy in the portal then and shoot for top3 in 2026

I think by now we know for us to have an elite class we need to close on top targets before the season starts. Yea we probably will get flips but it seems the top of the top guys want to be committed before their season
 
Maybe im reaching here but in typical Miami fashion this felt like a prove me year to recruits. I'm sure thats what other schools are saying too.

Take care of business the next two weeks and then just have a good showing (minimum) in the acc champ/playoff/bowl. Our class may be a tick down but it will still be good...maybe you need a few more portal guys then expected but you should go into the off season with all the ammo you need for a monster 2026 class.

Problem is as others have said, elite portal players at DB, DT, and WR aren’t a sure thing.

Who currently committed is commanding top dollar? I am not saying this class sucks but there doesn’t seem to be as much top tiered talent as the prior couple of classes.

Very true...esp DB as we can see.

I'm hoping WR we dont have to get to crazy and DT all the young guys take that next step going into year 2. Then maybe we only need 1 monster DT transfer.

DB is def where I'd prefer not to rely on all Fr/Sophs unless they really take a big jump but at this point I do hope the mistakes the young guys make when they are in help in the long run so they see it. The only encouraging piece is if OJ basically can take away 1 WR it frees up some other things. Then if Patterson learns the mental side to match his physical traits it can clean up some things.

All big what if's but there is potential...
 
Here's what nobody wants to hear. Mario aint a top 1-3 recruiter. Hes a top 5-8 at his best and 9-12 if some players fall through the crack. The sky isn't falling and this is just one of those classes. He rebounds for a big 2026 IMO.
 
Don’t really care where it’s ranked but I do know they better figure it out at DT and CB and land something else at DE.

Not a fan of several of our commitments and hope they plan on dropping the 2 Orlando OL because they’re not good.

Antoine was my favorite player in the class and he’s coming off an undisclosed injury (to my knowledge), Wallace is gonna be a while, and you’re gonna lose Merritt and Upshaw and I like both of them.

After what I’ve seen on the field I’m even more concerned at LB because you’re bringing in more of the same.

I feel good about TE and RB. WR is fine. Love SJ and Buchanan. I think Nickel is solid but I’m not sure where his ceiling is at. Pretty low probably. Big fan of Scroggins but he’s a couple years away and that’s all you have at DE. Very very low on Ewald, Fitzgerald, and Simpson. Don’t think they can play here. Again, more of the same at CB with guys that don’t run that well and more of the same at safety with kids that prove on a weekly basis that they can’t tackle, even at the HS level, except for Stubbs.

It would take dropping 5-6 of those guys and flipping several to make me feel good about the class overall regardless of the ranking.

Falling behind the big boys continues. Let’s see what we do in the portal because there’s tons of holes and no fix in sight. Not going to be fixed with true freshman anyway. Need to fill holes with guys that have 2-3 years of eligibility

If we lose Upshaw as you believe WR is a long way from fine. I agree with everything else you wrote.

With below average coaching, "tick down" classes aren't anywhere near good enough to have us winning anything of real signifigance with Mario as HC. He legitmately needs top 5 classes routinely in order to even have a shot. Barely top 10, or outside of top 10 with Mario and this staff is a massive step backwards.
 
I have never, in my 50 yr relationship with the U, as an alum and a fan, seen and heard so much expert advice on what coulda, shoulda be done. Also have never seen and heard so much whining, gnashing of teeth and BooF**king Hooing about a 9-1 Canes team. This here is a head scratching mfer. Just sayin’
