THIS IS SMART!!! Everyone jumped on Rumph's comments about how Jimmy, Butch and Howard used to build pipelines in schools where they knew future studs were coming out in a few years by getting less talented division 1 kids there a year or two prior. I saw this kids brother and HE'S THE REAL DEAL. No better pipeline than a family member.

Evan Hinson grew up a fan of the Miami Hurricanes so, he said, committing to the school Friday was a dream come true.
“I think this is great,” the Deltona High two-sport standout said. “I feel blessed. This is something I’ve worked hard for so I’m happy.”
The 6-foot-5, 205-pound junior gave his commitment to the Hurricanes just two days after the school offered him a football scholarship. He said his decision was made, in part, because he was told he could pursue football and basketball.
“That was important to me,” he said.
Hinson said the Hurricanes recruited him as a tight end. Despite missing five games last season because of hamstring and finger injuries, he finished with 12 receptions for 223 yards and two touchdowns.
“As a tight end, I think Evan’s upside is going to be huge,” Deltona coach Allen Johnson said. “He’s a receiving tight end. He can catch the ball, he runs great routes, and he just knows how to get open.
“I think he could be right up there with the (Kellen) Winslows and the (Jeremy) Shockeys as far as what he could do at Miami.”
Hinson, who has a 6-foot, 9-inch wingspan, said he also is be open to playing defensive end where he recorded 25 tackles — 15 for loss — and five sacks last season.
“I went to Miami’s junior day last year, and they liked me at defensive end,” he said. “But then they saw my film from this year, and they liked me as a tight end.”
Johnson said he thinks Hinson could shine on the defensive side as well.
“Evan knows how to use his body and his long arms,” Johnson said. “Since he was a kid, growing up, he played every position. We’ve even had him play running back and wide receiver. He’s one of those rare, 6-5 guys that can get anything done.”
Hinson plays small forward for Deltona and is averaging 23.5 points, 6.8 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game.
“I think he has a special trait that translates well to the next level, being a big guard that can shoot it,” Hinson’s father and Deltona basketball coach Denny Hinson said. “There is always a need for guards and wings that can shoot, and he brings that to the table.”
While Evan will attempt to play both sports, Denny said that could change after “a couple of years.”
“Or he could do it the whole four years,” Denny Hinson said. “I don’t think he will know what all is involved with trying to do it all in the ACC until he gets there.”
Hinson also had an offer from Iowa State in football, and had offers from Bethune-Cookman, Stetson, Florida International and Rutgers in basketball.
“A lot of schools were talking to him, but none of them made the push that Miami made,” Johnson said.

This kid could make it on both sides of the ball. I like the pickup and his brother looks like he's gonna be heavily recruited in 2019 judging by the fact he's getting offers already in middle school. His little brother plays basketball as well. Blake Hinson will be in high school next year.

Can definitely get down field for a big kid. Only negatives are he seemed to fall down every time he caught the ball. Need some film of him on the line blocking and running TE routes
