Welcome to The U, Terry McCray!!!!

Temple always had 2 and 3 star guys before Golden got there and didn't do ****. The school was about get rid of the football program. Golden's Temple team of 2 and 3 star guys went 9-4, 8-4, and 9-4 between 2009 and 2011 with 2 bowl wins, granted Golden was here in 2011. I'm not a betting man and I'm a Cane thru and thru but I bet that 2011 Temple team of overachieving 2 and 3 star can beat our underachieving 2011 Cane team. So if Golden want to take a no star, 1 star, 2 star, etc. kid, I trust him because he has a track record to back it up.

yawn 2 star... not gonna have an impact

I first read your post...next I looked at your rep bar...

You just...might...be serious.?.

Ahhh f@ck it...negged.

My opinion. Now a days higher recruited defensive players have a better chance at panning out, key word there is chance. Like Dion Jordan, Mingo, Clowney, Sharrif Floyd even Jarvis Jones who this board is saying this kid can be like. Jarvis was a 4 star.

he has JAG written all over him

Literally.

Did he get those tattoos at Tattoo Gallery?

Based on the shaky lines I'd say the answer is yes.

people owuldn't be so skeptical about this if we weren't burned so many times prior by this. golden took some questionables in 2012, and we're starting to inch toward that again in 14!!! guys, I trust golden, but why can't we recruit like the fsu and uf's of the world?? enough with the projects, lets get some grown *** men!!

Pretty sure FSU just got a commit who only had one other offer from Fordham.

but they don't make a habit of it. you can't name any other of their low offer guys in this class. when they do offer these no offer guys, they turn out like devonta freeman and cam erving!! both are future top 3 round picks. erving will be 1st rounder :( clearly they've earned the slack to take these "projects". we haven't! that's why I'm so worried.

but I'll stop starting stuff. I just wnat what's best for my canes!!!

Obvious ****** fsu fan posing with a Canes screen name. Get this troll clown off the board. You'd think his semenholes were undefeated every year the way he worships their recruiting work.

I dont really want to, but I just knew something like this would happen. But how can a guy like Skai not even get a visit to Coral Gables and the next year we got some guys with commitable offers in freaking July?!

Honest question, What is wrong with U school players, I know all arent top players but we seem to be down on them as a whole.

Six Degrees of Skai. It all comes back to Skai.

Change the spelling of your screen name to skaiman.

In jan/feb, we still had Eddie Johnson & Gabe terry on the team. & the staff felt confident on Thomas coming, + they probably believed bond would qualify. That is why we didnt go after skai...should we have hedged our bets? Probably but that is over with. By the time we offered him he was going to South Carolina.

Last year was a really small class because we didn't have as many offers to go around. This year we do.

I would guess because you lean more towards the idea that he wont pan out before even giving him a chance......that may be it

So by your logic we can't even put forth the idea that kid isn't good? Every kid must be worth the scholly and will contribute in some way because our staff offered him right. Then in two/three years if he transfers out what then? It was the kids fault for not working not the staff? Or maybe it was because they just missed on a evaluation like they did with jacoby briscoe for example. I don't understand why everyone can't just say their opinion on the player. What'd you think of his highlights if I may ask you....did you even watch them?

I'm not gonna keep going back and forth when I know you won't open your mind so ill just say this. McCray could very well contribute at UM. Does that mean it will happen? No. Ill just reserve my judgement but there's nothing wrong with posters stating their opinion. Owens and young are beasts @ LB so our haul is good right now. Just because I look at things objectively doesn't mean I don't trust our staff

Quick first step off the ball, didnt have to fight off many blocks in the film, so Im not sure how good he is at that, has nice size and gets to the ball carrier, didnt see any pass defense in the film but is a converted DB so they must be decent especially if he stated thats one of the things the coaching staff likes about him. As far as my logic goes, im not about to condemn any of these kids as busts or reaches when the evaluation process isn't an exact science and before our staff gets a hold of them. If he transfers in two or three years it could mean we had a line of players that developed better before him, we signed immediate impact players after him or he wanted a different situation. No he doesnt jump off the limited film he has but a lot of ppl on here act as if KIDS cant be developed, especially south florida kids whom everyone knows has a lot of unrefined talent. And Jacoby Briscoe was strictly a depth guy picked up when Golden was scrambling to fill a class....low risk.....small pond to fish in
Homie, Briscoe was a 2012 kid not a 2011 kid.

Touche but again everyone is not going to pan out and it wasnt because of his talent, it was because of his work ethic. Plus who else did we have a legit chance at grabbing at DT that year. The way things were run at UM by Golden after year one, Im sure are different going into year 3. Still, strictly a depth guy in my opinion.

Yeah but Briscoe or whoever would have taken his spot needed to be more than just a depth guy, plain and simple. I've said multiple times, we are lucky to have gotten a coach like Al, very lucky. I believe in what he is doing but he is not infallible and this is a Canes site where we talk the team and recruiting. I don't hate the McCray committ, but I was just defending those that questioned it because there is a lot to question, and that they were not being haters and their concerns had validity to them. Since we are talking about Briscoe, lets lead into the one area Golden and the staff up to this point have failed and that is recruiting DTs. This year excluded, and I'm not gonna call it a successful haul til we sign because we were all around this site this very time last year. Right now we are trying to replenish our cupboard and while we are getting to where we need and are there at some positions, we don't have the luxury to just take meh players especially with sanctions looming. We aren't in the same boat as LSU where we could take a high risk high ceiling kid like say Bain from last year. I welcome McCray to the U fam like everybody else but the reality is that he is one of the few recruits in this class thus far that has question marks around him, and one can't just ignore that let alone be upset that others have brought them up.

His tape looks pretty good. He could be a player if he can maintain his burst while carrying more weight.

Golden seems to like bigger LBs, so my guess is he feels McCray has the frame to put on good weight.

I'll trust the staff over porsters.

This kid has height and is fast.

Howard Schnellenberger said they looked for three things in a recruit: height, speed and a burning desire to get a college education.

With this kid, it looks they've got the first two. We'll see about the third. I wouldn't expect every kid they recruit to be a polished and finished player at this stage. When Bob Karmelowicz was DL coach, he suggested something similar to me. He looked for kids a certain size and build. He told me they'd coach them up.

He was a coach who later spent a lot of years in the NFL.

I love to see how so many on this board are comfortable dogging this kid or the staff for offering him and simultaneously foaming at the mouth if some "traitor" Cane legacy decides to play elsewhere. Now I have no idea if the fact that he's a legacy factored into the decision to offer him, but I will say this, if the coaches do give some extra weight to the family ties(and it seems to me they do) I am certainly down with that. Part of what makes our team special is that loyalty the U. Ask Ray Lewis.

Welcome home Terry. Keep some of these posts with you on days when practice feels too **** long and hot. Work hard and feel all the more satisfied when you succeed and help us regain what is ours.

The fact he's a legacy of recent player who established a reputation for giving it his all probably didn't hurt at all.

@ worse hes a special teamer....but he will be a jumbo athlete...I think he will be a 230+ pd LB as a freshman..hes a kid i would still shirt though....especially if Gabe Terry Is back.
