WoW this is some funny sh*t! The kid's a beast. He will not red shirt. He will make an impact and he will do exactly what you want from that that position. He's a tweener with speed and pop. Golden always talks of having 'coal shovelers'( which means blue-collar guys, who do things like special teams, etc). Maybe this is a Golden coal-shoveler, a guy who does all those non-glamorous things, develops over time and becomes a solid contributor by his 3rd or 4th year in the program. Not every player is going to be Ray Lewis.

Its the board mentality. 1 or 2 guys don't like the pickup so then everyone jumps aboard despite the fact that they probably have never seen the kid in a game, camp setting or on tape.
This place has really gone downhill lately as the actual football discussion is now next to nothing.

I dont see the downside of this commit at all. We're signing a HUGE class, this is a kid who was productive as a junior at one of the premier schools in broward county in a major classification. Has good height and length for the position with the option to put his hand in the dirt if he gets too big (Around 230 b4 he steps on campus, 240 after an offseason.)
If he doesn't pan out during his senior season, ease him out of the class. Our LB recruiting this cycle has been gr8 enough that we can afford to take a flyer on this kid.
He's already taller then his cousin and if he has half the work ethic of Teraz, he will have a role here, be it specials teams, scout team, what have u.

Johnson was a hit and we all loved him when he was on the team. There are going to be kids that make dumb decisions, unless you want to recruit against Harvard from now on.
Armbrister...if he develops in to a reliable backup and special teamer then he was a success.
Terry...flashed last year and another one we all loved, but again, sometimes guys make bad calls. Jury is still out as there were reports that he might earn his way back.
Paul...I wdon't know if he is a straight up miss or not but he is the closest thing to a miss on this list.
Cornelius was here before Golden.
So from your list, only 1 of the 4 potentials could be considered an actual miss from a talent evaluation perspective, with the jury still out on Terry and Armbrister and Johnson not even being close.

Maybe the only worse evaluators of talent than the former mailmen and janitors that make the recruiting rankings and are are unemployable by even an NAIA school or any real journalistic entity are message board "fans."

Paul got a lot of playing time for us last year so hard to call him a miss. I don't think he would be a star but a solid depth guy, think he would have been the 5th LB this year if not for the off the field troubles.

Funny, i remember that too. I also remember posting that SM was up at Michigan and lit their camp up. He was going to go there after posting the FASTEST 40 time that week and killing it with his big arm. Randy wanted no part of the kid, but Whipple was willing to fight him over it. Everyone was thinking he was a life long second stringer lol. The kid was a quiet leader and didn't play into the rankings and kissing ***. Funny how those three stars that don't play for state champions and camp/7on7 every weekend get passed on. FWIW Collins committed to us after camp and was UNRATED on two of the big three sites. Im not blown away by TM but the staff has not missed at LB yet so I gotta trust them with this take. And if we can get back in Ely's good graces im all for it. One thing you cant take away from him is his size and speed. Looks to have good speed for his size.

but they don't make a habit of it. you can't name any other of their low offer guys in this class. when they do offer these no offer guys, they turn out like devonta freeman and cam erving!! both are future top 3 round picks. erving will be 1st rounderclearly they've earned the slack to take these "projects". we haven't! that's why I'm so worried.
