Official Weekly Polls and Rankings Thread

We need a point system or something to weigh each win and loss. Because if osu was top3 before texas i think they should still be at least top5 now

Why do you have Ole Miss and LSU at 14 and 15 and MissSt/UF/Missouri unranked? Like Is this based on what you think it'll be at end of year/with projections?

At end of Day UF killed Ole Miss who you have ranked 14 and beat Auburn on the road.... And Auburn beat Baylor who you have 23rd.
Ole Miss barely beat Louisville who already has 3 losses now, only has 1 Win against LSU at home in a pretty emotionally charged (to their benefit) game. And then got killed by UF who they themselves got killed by Missouri...
LSU killed Clemson like we did (except at home instead of road like we had to do), Lost to Ole miss, beat a bad A&M team..... and that's it.

Also Arizona at 12? with a loss to byu as 2nd highest ranked 1 loss team in country?... Giving them quite a lot of credit for the Cinci win there... As far as 1 loss teams go they're not even better than Houston or Baylor in their own conference in terms of resume tbh. Baylor has 1 loss to auburn because they failed to get 2pt conversion to win.

I mean If its by projection I can get it, but not if it's actually current resume based.
A bit of both. Projections and what’s already happened. As I wrote, Pitt would be higher based on resume but their qb is out for the season.

I’m also cognizant of ole Miss losing without Lacey and additionally see them + lsu as more complete and talented than mizzou, miss state, and UF.

Auburn is pretty irrelevant to me because I don’t think they’re good so I don’t give uf props for that. Baylor had Lagway hobbling and just missed the two point conversion against Auburn

as I wrote after the first eleven, the rest of the teams all have losses to each other that makes it literally logically impossible to rank them in order just based off who beat who.

in your rankings Tennessee has no reason to be a dozen spots behind all of those sec teams and their one loss was closer than the rest. Likewise northwestern is punished too harshly for their loss against an undefeated top ranked team just like Tennessee. Kentucky played Alabama much closer than miss state yet is punished much more harshly

USC so far behind Minnesota, Duke unranked, to be that high on Memphis and not have Boise state ranked, Etc etc

Not going back n forth on it

Some of y’all gotta watch non-sec football lol

Arizona is good and their only loss is to byu; one of the best programs these past two years

okay if its projections, its fine. But if was just purely based on resume so far....

Yeah but Ole Miss lost cause they couldn't do a **** thing to stop the run, which Missouri proceeded to shut down, not because of lacy.

But whats the diff between UTenn and Baylor then?

I mean not really, I did just that lol. They didn't all beat eachother cause they haven't all played eachother yet. There is a clear A beat B who beat C who beat D currently.

Tenn also doesn't have as good of a WIN. Ole MIss beat LSU, UF beat Ole Miss, Missouri eat UF.... Utenns win was the team you just said you don't value Auburn.... And their close loss was at home. Northwestern has 1 loss and 1 decent win against a bad PSU team, whereas Minnesota has a loss to a Miss St team and wins against Michigan and Washington both of whom are better than PSU. So unless you're just valuing quality wins over losses... Kentucky played Bama closer than Miss St? Miss st lost by 33 and Kentucky lost by 28 lol. Meanwhile kentucky has wins against A&M and South Carolina who are both average teams. And the South carolina win took the biggest comeback win in like program history to accomplish. MissSt meanwhile has a win against 1 loss Minn and 1 loss Missouri AND beat South carolina much more easily. There is zero argument possible where Kentucky should be ranked ahead of MissSt.

Yes. USC lost the good team they played, barely beat a **** Rutgers and then barely beat Washington. The same washington at home - the same washington minn beat at washington.... Duke was just outside top 25. No chance they should be above Pitt today. Boise St was my first on next up lol what are you talking about. a couple top G5 teams should be close to top 25.
Not going back n forth on it
ok

How i would rank em;

1. Texas
2. Miami
3. ND
4. IU
5. Bama
6. OSU
7. UGA
8. UCLA
9. Utah
10. BYU
11. Texas Tech
(This is where it starts to get hard imo; no perfect answers because of who has beaten who; my solution is just depreciating all of em)

12. Arizona
13. Wake Forest
14. Ole Miss
15. LSU
16. Ok State
17. Northwestern
18. Duke (i just don’t believe them yet)
19. Oregon
20. SMU
21. Boise State
22. North Dakota State (i kinda believe them more than duke but the schedule tho….)
23. Baylor
24. Pitt (i’m giving them the Jordan travis—FSU treatment unfortunately)
25. Nebraska (i just don’t believe them yet)

Left out possibly ranked teams: Kentucky, Houston, JMU, USC, Miss State, Mizzou, Iowa, UF, and Tennessee. I know Tennessee + UF beat Auburn, and Baylor did not, but Baylor just looks like a much better football team than Tenn; and i won’t rank UF without Mizzou. Iowa’s Michigan win alreaedy looks worse. Poll inertia is the only reason I’d rank them and I don’t consider them more threatening than multiple 1-loss squads; even some 1-loss squads not on the list like VT

Holding off on ranking JMU but there’s some voodoo at work over there. Someone(s) in their personnel department are cookin. Unfournately, Billy Napier is their head coach. If his name were Nilly Bapier, I’d probably be higher on him. He’s gone on win streaks before. Waiting for @ App State and @ UCONN before I stamp them as special.

Signs of Dominance, defense, playoff project-ability (ask my imaginary quant for the formula) and being undefeated is my criteria. I will fluctuate week to week as much as i please w/ zero shame
Mostly agree with all that. Except I think UGA is for real this year, unfortunately. They just keep going about their business and handling teams.

Appreciate it.

Real big test this week for them. Gunnar Stockton is interesting because he’s clearly two or three levels below Beck and Bennett however he does have some “it,” factor.

My lasting impression of him is how he responded after he fumbled which led to Ole Miss going up 34 to 24 in the playoffs—TD then a FG to tie the game up w/ 50 seconds left. Couldn’t get that second TD they ultimately needed however a lotta good qbs couldn’t lead back to back scoring drives like that.

I hate what i see (or don’t see) from their weapons; and their qb needs guys to emerge. Their only main passing game returner is london humprfreys who is mid. Lost Colbie Young, Noah Thomas, Dillion Bell, Oscar Delp, Cash Jones and Z. Branch: 6 of their top 7. I know their TE room is loaded however I’ve yet to see Luckie or the others emerge as a true unstoppable threat. Gunnar is going to take care of the football regardless, and i know they can run the ball well. Just not sure they’ll survive shootouts.

I think Vandy’s running qb exposed some weaknesses bama can exploit in their upcoming game. Besides Bama, the rematch with Ole Miss has me favoring Ole Miss who will need that win to make the playoffs. We know Mizzou can stop the run, so that matchup just got a lot more interesting. UGA’s defense doesn’t strike me as Death Star evil-empire good like they used to be.

Regardless, at 10-2 they’ll make the playoffs and could be playing much better by then. Kirby hasn’t lost 3+ regular-season games since his first season as an HC. So until it happens again, I’ll bet against it lol. Don’t see them winning 3-4 games in a row in the playoffs tho.

Ripchik dropped Florida to No. 14 on his ballot this week, six spots behind where he put Ole Miss, and he had Missouri No. 20.

“You can’t punish Florida too much for having that loss even though it was a really bad loss to Missouri,” Ripchik said. “They had such a good win the week before, it’s hard to punish them that badly. At that point, you’d have to put Missouri really high up and Florida down below it. But Missouri also had a loss to Mississippi State.”

It's wild because:

-Louisville (not that great) and #9 Ole Miss was a coin flip
-FSU (bad) and #6 Bama was a 1 score game in the 4th
-NC State (bad) basically beat Vanderbilt

Clemson is the only team that really embarrassed the ACC but Miami replicated LSU's success.

These results should be a really good measuring stick but nobody wants to acknowledge it. The ACC had a winning record against the SEC last year and nobody cares.
