MEGA Week 9 Games Thread 🎃👻💀

Harold Carmichael’s main QBs with the Eagles were Roman Gabriel and Ron Jaworski (aka, “Jaws”).

Btw - Carmichael is a product of current football state champion William M. Raines High School in Jacksonville, Florida. Raines was an NFL pipeline back then in the late 60s and early 70s. He was an incredible multi-sport athlete at HBCU Southern, as many great players were in that time period. He was an amazing athlete and a great person. Amazing that he’s 93 years old now
One of his teammates at Southern was HOF Pittsburgh Steelers CB Mel Blount. Those must have been some amazing practice battles.

I coached in the Wing-T. Not the same as what the service academies run, but the principle is the same. The misdirection and angles that the OL get cause so many issues for defenses, no matter how talented they are. It causes them to overthink and even their keys can make them wrong. Their eyes lie to them every play & by the time you see what’s happening, it’s too late. You may not win every game but you can be in every game. And if you have some good athletes (Northwestern), you can be REALLY good. Also really hard to replicate with your scout team!

Navy is look good but left a lot of time on the clock.

I know that the offense Navy runs gives other team fits because they don’t face offenses like that the rest of the year.

But still, how do they stay in games with top 10 teams when the majority of their roster is zero star players with a few 2 star and the rare 3 star sprinkled in.
It snowballs because when the option is working they are able to shorten the game and give teams fewer possessions.
