Week 7 Observations

Unless there’s some major stud in the portal I’m thinking Luke is our guy.
There is ALWAYS a top QB who transfers every year.. With us being a destination qb school now we will have top pick so we should grab a portal guy. I dont know what people have seen of luke to throw 2026 season away going back to our qbs when portal qbs have elevated the program.

I asked this question in the off season and it’s worth asking again.

When do the injuries become too much and Lagway decides to make baseball his primary sport. If I was his parent I would at least encourage him to consider this.
I couldn't agree more. Baseball would be a great idea; I hadn't considered that. I don't think he has a chance to make the NFL anymore, but he could get a degree and make a decent living in baseball and perhaps even get up to AAA or majors.

Sully would probably give him a shot at UF too. He really should get the shoulder fixed, let it heal and do his PT, and then switch to baseball for 2027. That's a fantastic idea. He'd still have two years of eligibility.

When Lagway came to UF he was considered a dual sport star. He clearly loves football, but at some point someone needs to have an adult discussion with him about what is in his best interest. Maybe he still proves us wrong, but if I was an NFL GM, I would be worried about all the injuries.

Disagree. You can't really quantify how poor the coaching is. He's being coached by a complete fraud. When Richardson came out, I posted so many quotes and tweets from scouts and execs almost appalled at how bad Billy's scheme is for QB development.

I have no idea what the portal landscape will be this year. And Lagway of course isn't guaranteed to go anywhere, and if he did, his price tag would be enormous. But what you're seeing this season is ZERO indication of his true potential. I mean, we literally just did this for the last 2 years.

Cam Ward was a fumbling machine who couldn't beat a terrible Stanford team just to make a bowl game. And then he became a Heisman Finalist and #1 pick here.

Carson Beck was a turnover machine and poor leader who played himself out of the first, and likely even Day 2, of the draft. And then he came here, and he's the leader for the Heisman trophy and well on his way to being a high NFL pick.

If we keep Shannon Dawson, this program is the Betty Ford Clinic for QBs. My only pause with Lagway is he really has shown no ability to stay healthy. It'd be a big risk. But how he's playing at UiF under that absolute loser has literally zero bearing on his true ability. We thought Beck getting away from Bobo was beneficial to him? Billy is infinitely worse.

UF fans tried to tell TrumpyCane how he developed Levi Lewis at Lafayette into a NFL QB

1. Best he did was mini camp, wasn't even drafted
2. His stats after his 1st year starting actually got worse year after year
3. He was fired from Clemson because his offenses STUNK

And these idiots thought he was some elite QB developer
