Another great Saturday watching ball all day, afternoon and night at Coach JB's. Some thoughts on what I saw..

- There was Friday night fireworks in Denton, Texas as South Florida exploded for a 63-36 victory, in what was an early back-and-forth battle.

The key moment in this game was when N. Texas had a 21-14 lead with under two minutes left in the half and the ball near midfield. They had complete tactical control of the game at this point. But Drew Mestermaker threw an INT. And from that point on, it was all Bulls. Who scored the next 28 points in rapid fashion. Turnovers killed the Mean Green on this night. Their turnovers had to have led to about 35 USF points. This after USF had three first quarter turnovers. Eventually they racked up 580 yards offensively

Byrum Brown (bomber) had three touchdowns throws. He is a perfect fit for the Golesh fast-paced offense. Brown is not a natural passer, but good enough to make the throws that are needed in this system. Looking at USF, they're only loss is to Miami, and in two weeks they play at Memphis. This game has huge American Conference and playoff implications.

- OK, with UCLA's recent resurgence, what does this say about what was going on with Deshaun Foster and Tino Sunseri? I really thought they were headed for an 0-12 season before he was relieved of his duties. They really did look THAT bad. Now, they look like a different team. Yeah, Michigan St is bad -- and Aiden Chiles should not go looking for fan comments (not that he cares) -- but this was among the worst P4 teams in September.

- Bama gets by a tough Mizzou team. Early taunting call swings momentum back to the Tide on their first drive, which was key. Ty Simpson is showing that he's a clutch player. As for Mizzou, Ahmed Hardy never really got going, and they could've used a Luther Burden outside this game.

- Just two weeks ago James Franklin (Penn St) and Mike Norvell (FSU) were leading top 10 teams. Now, they are firmly on the hot seat. I get the sense that both fan bases want new head coaches. These things can turn quickly.

The Drew Allar and Franklin era may have ended on the same day. As for Norvell, just look at his record with and without Jordan Travis as his QB.

- Luke Fickell should be Luke Finished in Wisky. It just hasn't worked out.

- I know some will question John Mateer starting for OU vs Texas. Honestly, I still think he gave them a better shot at beating the Longhorns than Michael Hawkins. He started out decently but then his game got really skittish and those three INT's were crippling. UT out-scored the Sooners 20-0 in the second half where their defense got more and more dominant. Arch Manning was steady and made some strides today as quarterback

- No need to Google, Curt Cignetti and Indiana at this point. Anyone who cares about college football knows all about them at this point. And unlike last season, they are already battle tested. They went into Autzen and controlled this game throughout. Take away a Fernando Mendoza pick-six and this game was really the Hoosiers to lose. The way they closed it out with the final 10 points was impressive. Dante Moore struggled for the first time this season

- Texas A@M, took physical control of the game after a hot start by the Florida Gators offense. They won going away at Kyle Field 34-17. For all the quarterbacks that have disappointed this season, Marcel Reed is one that has developed nicely. This is a well-rounded offense with a strong run game and two outside threats in KC Concepion and Mario Craver.

Aggies now have a three game gauntlet where they face Arkansas, LSU and Mizzou -- all on the road

- Is the NIL that Cam Coleman and Erik Singleton worth it to play in that antiquated Hugh Freeze offense as a wide reciever? On the verge of making it 17-0 late in the first half, Jackson Arnold fumbles a QB sneak and the game just flat out turned from that point. Auburn's offense in the second half rolled over and played dead in the second half.

- LSU just keeps scrapping by. Very stout defense, uneven offense. And if you're going to ask Brian Kelly about it, make sure it's not the first question of the press conference.

- Dan Mullen and UNLV are now 6-0. Would Florida take him back as their head coach?

- Look out for Notre Dame, they are steadily creeping back into the playoff discussion. They now faces USC at home next week. They win that, and there's a very good chance they are 10-2 with both losses being one-possession games vs top 5 teams(at the moment). Navy at home will be a bit tricky. CJ Carr keeps putting up big numbers

- Crown King Miller, USC had to go deep on their running back depth chart and he gashed Michigan for 158 yards on just 18 carries. I still think the Trojans are a top five team in the conference behind the likes of Ohio St, Indiana and Oregon

- Finally, as of now, it's Ohio St, Miami, Indiana and Texas A@M who are my top 4 (and not necessarily in that order, but those are my fearsome foursome as of now)

Surprised you didn't mention the most critical factor in this game, the refs. We've seen some pretty bad calls against Miami, but this entire game was a big FU to Auburn by the SEC. Haven't seen anything this bad since Terry Porter

yeah, most believe it was a bad call. It certainly had an impact on the momentum of that game. BTW, the last two minutes of the first half seemed to take 10 hours. Good grief, there are times when I think we're better off without instant replay...

100. Auburn had momentum several times with the rhythm of their play calling and they kept doing needless replays.

There's no doubt in my mind that at 17-0 Auburn, that game is over.

As UGA just kept getting one first down after another in the second half, you could just feel this game slipping away from Auburn. Then when Arnold missed that post to Singleton (for a TD), it felt over for them

Kirby isn't shy about his influence over the refs either. That dude is very easy to hate

It's really getting interesting out there.
If we can just keep our heads on right, this could be something special.
L'ville will be an interesting game, we should win easily, but the accolades and atta'boys will be at an all time high, can they keep being about business?

Worse than the "no td call" was the "Kirby didnt call a TO call" I still cannot believe that......

I’m generally not a conspiracy theory type, but those calls against Auburn were beyond shady.

ND was never out of the playoff discussion. I don’t know why people thought that. They play by a different set of rules. Any ND team that finishes with no more than 2 losses is in the playoff.

Indiana very impressive. That Ohio State game going to a good one.

Franklin is another example of the line from the Dark Knight about either leaving a hero, or staying around long enough to become the villain. He’s a good coach, but it’s done for him at Pedo State.

Norvell…..lol.

-CJ Carr is developing into a stud at the QB position. You could see the potential in game 1 against Miami. ND will be a playoff team if they win out and they will be a tough out.

-lol at Luke and the Badgers

-That Jawja/Auburn game was ridiculous with that officiating. The Dawgs aren't it anymore, still very good and a contending program but have come back to the pack. Kirby has to get rid of Mike Bobo. Just don't see too many big plays in that offense.

-this Hoosier team is better than last year's version. the difference is the Defense. That was an impressive road win. They really finished that 4th quarter. Cignetti is an angry old ball coach but he is a winner. He won't coach scared against the Buckeyes like Franklin always does, should be a great game.

-Bama/Mizzou was an excellent game. Mizzou seems to struggle with any sort of vertical passing game. I have watched them twice and splash plays in the passing game are hard to come by for them. They are a good physical team but not quite contender material because of that passing game most likely. Bama conference schedule is insane and if they navigate the rest of their schedule with only 1 more loss, they will be in the tournament for sure. Their coach is better than what he gets credit for on this board and so is their QB. that 4th down throw at the end of the game was money by Simpson. Bama is a contender if they get in.

-LSU/South Carolina was an absolute snooze fest. Another SEC game officiated terribly yesterday in favor of the higher rated team. Remember all the preseason nonsense about Nussmier and Sellers? LSU is not a contender with that offense.

-**** the Buckeyes but their Defense is salty.

-This is exactly what I envisioned the NIL universe of college football to look like. I think is awesome. The talent is spread out and there really are a lot of good competitive teams around the country, in every conference that can beat anybody. The easiest thing to do in sports is lose, anyone can lose to anybody at anytime. Our Hurricanes are most definately in the hunt and Contenders. They are a problem for anybody, anytime, anywhere.

I want to see Miami start putting up 50 spots on these ACC teams on a regular basis coming up. Keep sharpening that blade on a week to week basis. Yesterday showed me that there really isn't a team that the Canes cant beat this season

Any thoughts on Timeout-gate?

The SEC should handle this on their own. If there is some type of general “sportsmanship” standard which can be forced by the league, it should do so against Smart. He was caught completely lying. Now I also blame the ref for falling for his BS, but the commissioner should come down on Smart and UGA. It’s not a good look to have a coach blatantly lie.
