Week 1 Game watch

This statement is a bit misleading although technically correct, “only two teams who lost their opener have wound up in the college football playoffs in their twelve year history.”

Clemson 2024 lost to UGA & Alabama 2025 lost to FSU are the two teams who made it. Why i don’t like the stat is because:

Diving deeper into it, you have Alabama in 2023, smu in 2024, Ohio state in 2014, Boise state in 2024, etc who made the playoffs after losing to their first p4 opponent they had.

Louisville has to stay healthy but i think their performance won’t keep em out, they went toe to toe with Ole Miss. Honestly wouldn’t be surprised if they move up in the rankings.

Faxxxxxxxxx. Honestly super impressed they tied it up, that took guts. First start against a p4 opponent is tuff af for a qb, ask joe burrow going against manny Diaz defense in 2018 lol
 
Kienholz’s recruiting lore is that he was committed to Washington w/ DeBoer being a fellow South Dakota guy. In December ‘22, he flipped to Ohio State; Deboer got Austin Mack to commit the following February then had him reclassify and enroll early at Washington. He took him w/ him to Alabama where the quarterback room was packed; and he’d flip keelon Russell from smu a few months later.

Pretty wild because Austin Mack only started one year in HS due to the reclassification. He tore it up but still. . . . I think he’s an NFL talent but hope he doesn’t get thrown to the wolves so to speak. If i were Stanford, I’d already be tampering w/ Mack.

The Virginia schools are going to be tough outs this year. My bet is virginia since VT will have to play us in the regular season. UVA has a pathetic ACC schedule too.
