Week 1 Game watch

Both uga and Clemson won two titles in the past 15 years and then they each won their first title in the early 80s. But in the 80s they have more 10 win seasons than 7 or 8 win seasons.

Anyways, i think this is a better representation of their history. I ignore pre-integration. Laid out like this, the down period is concentrated to two coaches, over fifteen years.

I was just talking about clemson not the uga comp. Clemson wasn’t near the dabo level brought them to, I think they’re closer to what they usually were before him

Problem with ACC is that the teams which have bad OOC losses early on start winning in the conference, mucking
up SOS.
I don’t think Clemson or Boston College will be winning much in conference this year. GT will be, and they need to upset Tennessee to get some momentum and respect after the Colorado loss. I think Cal will be good, not sure how good, in conference this year but didn’t see them as a playoff contender. If they are, they’ll need UCLA to be a 9 or 10 win team.

Going to the natty gave us proof of concept if we slip in one of the non-ND games, but hard for other teams in our conference to get the benefit of the doubt no matter who they beat. Louisville beating Ole Miss would do wonders for the conference & themselves tho, so mos def agreed on that front.

Thankfully the ACC plays more p4 ooc games than anybody else so plenty of room for improvement. But no strength of schedule metrics will ever benefit non-SEC teams anyways. FSU beat Alabama, we beat FSU, and Alabama was still ranked ahead of us last year. The year before, similar ordeal with Alabama boxing us out of the playoffs despite us having one more win than them.

I just see Michigan’s game against W. Michigan, Ok State loss to Tulsa, TCU’s Irish goodbye against UNC, Oregon’s close-home-escape-victory against Boise State, and Rutgers loss to UMass as more damaging to the B1G and XII than anything that happened to the ACC. If Duke would’ve lost to Tulane again, then that’d have been embarrassing.

I could see Arkansas losing to both Utah and Tulsa and Vandy showed little to inspire confidence in their future match against NC State. But i don’t think auburn’s victory over Baylor reflects that well on Auburn, and LSU will face a better offense than Clemson next week in Louisiana Tech.

FAMU playing South Carolina state right now. What in the world. Higher Ups did those boys dirty.

I really wish the P4 would stop allowing teams to schedule FCS opponents. Goddam Bethune Cookman just got smacked 76 to 3 by UCF lol.

There’s enough mid competition out there in the G6 and at least they present an opportunity for a wild upset like UMass beating Rutgers on the fireworks celebration night of Schiano’s hundredth win.

Idaho State whooped Utah State, Citadel beat Charlotte, Tarleton State beat Bowling Green, Albany took Buffalo to the wire.

To your point, the gap between the G6 & FCS is narrowing.

Although NDSU looks really, really well coached in their first FBS season.
