Week 1 Game watch

It’s crazy to me how Dabo is still a young guy but he’s so old fashioned
I believe this is because He’s literally been to two places his whole life. Well I guess 3. Birmingham Alabama, Tuscaloosa Alabama and Clemson.

Blessing and a curse cuz that old fashionedness also helped him be the second most dominant team of the 2010s

The thing that blows my mind about Clemson is the fact that people still believed they could be elite. Not as many, but they were still out there. People forget that those Clemson teams that won weren't just a quarterback show. They had absolute aliens on the d line and crazy talented athletes all over the field. They don't have anything close to that anymore. They are just another ACC team now.

Obviously dabo accomplished much more, but it’s interesting to look back at the circumstances at the firing of James Franklin which felt like the first domino.

A double OT, one-score loss to no. 3 Oregon, a 37-42 loss to a winless UCLA w/ an interim HC followed by an awful postgame presser, and lastly a home 21-22 loss to 1-2 northwestern (who lost to Tulane) which sealed his fate.

I write all that to say—these were some **** close losses to a team that made the final 4 the year before. Dabo went 7-6 the year before, including a loss to interim coach Terry Smith led Penn State in the bowl game.

LSU is snatching Clemson’s soul. I wonder if Dabo even makes it to our game. But i also just wonder how this firing goes down bcuz Dabo doesn’t want to retire.

The last time a championship coach was fired—at the school he won the championship at—was Gene Chizik at Auburn and Les Miles at LSU. Even Mack Brown fake retired. Urban Meyer and ed o are a little different to me because scandals were abound. Hard to find a lot of comparisons on how this will go down. Larry Coker is one of the more recent examples.

Dabo will be unique because he has two titles.

Ed O won a title at LSU and got canned like two years later. He’s the most recent title winning coach to get his walking papers

We should get Jarrell Chandler to flip before Tennessee does; and Seth Tillman may be the elite DT we need for this cycle.
