3. Dan underachieving Lanning has to be the most overrated coach out there

Dan Lanning is 1-7 against Kalen Deboer, Kirby Smart, Curt Cignetti and Ryan Day. Lost to Oregon State on the road year 1 too.

Only bail i can throw him is that besides the Oregon state and Washington losses in year 1, the four teams he lost to (2x Washington 2023, 2x Indiana 2025, UGA 2022, and Ohio State 2024 split) all made it to the national championship game.

But in general he’s super overrated and this Boise state game being a loss would shine a spotlight on how talent has saved him and propped him up for a longtime now.

He’s basically a silver spoon defensive version of a coach who can’t beat the elite teams.
