There are new faces all over the field. New coaches on the sideline. New numbers have been handed out and returning veterans are taking on new roles.

But amidst all the changes for Miami as a new season begins, the goals remain the same as they’ve been since head coach Mario Cristobal returned four years ago to lead the program he once played for and won two national championships with: compete for championships and understand that the work...

TrumpyCane listened to "In the Air tonight" and felt it in TrumpyCane's plums

"The biggest thing for him, that he tells us is elite teams are in elite shape, so what we’ve done this off-season is we run, we run like crazy. We’re trying to … just have amazing conditioning"

This is interesting. The usual stigma with Marios teams was that they were physical and, more importantly, had some weight on their body to move others around.

Bains goal was to get leaner and more explosive and now Mesidor has alluded to running a lot and improving that. I did not track what others have said about the S&C this year but I´ll be interested to see how the weight has changed in the depth chart.

Unless Mario keeps that under wrap...

Interestingly enough, player weights are not listed on the roster. Only their height.

We will have a depth chart before the game at some point with all of the OR mentions... hopefully.

But we do have a new S&C guy at the top and he appears to emphasize speed and mobility. Mesidor has also dropped 20 pounds this offseason.

Mario has done a great job rebuilding the whole program. The program is so far beyond, on and off the field, from where it was 4 years ago. Mario has done exactly what I expected him to do. Now, it is time to prove he can do more than build a program. Some of his criticisms are fact and some aren't. It is a fact, he is not going to be a good game day coach, but I think he can cover all other aspects. This talent against this schedule is it. ND is the only team comparable to us on this schedule, not even UF. No excuses. This team shouldn't be losing to a UL or SMU. Even as much as I respect Brohm's O mind. I will not excuse a loss to VT or Pitt this season. Miami shouldn't lose to VT or Pitt if Carson is out. Sweep Nov.! Stop that run at all costs Sunday night. Go Canes!

We have objectively gotten better every year of his tenure here. This is the year that making that remain true requires taking the next step though. Win the ACC, playoff berth would be building further and would secure a top class.

Feels a little like 2000. Last year was 1999, such promise but underachieved. If we were going to Oregon this weekend, I'm not sure I'd feel so good about it. Someone tell Mario to put the ball in the hands of whoever on this roster is Clinton Portis. Had Butch gone to Portis earlier in the Washington game, we win. Feels like Jordan Lyle, get him 15 touches on Sunday.
