We should not let up vs any team

We need to go scorched earth vs everyone this year. If we can put up 70 put up 70. No need to hold back on team to have "sportsmanship" bc when we were down teams didn't hold back on doing that vs us. When we try to just run the clock out we let teams hang around and that gets you beat down the road. What made those great canes teams special is that they were relentless and didn't care about sportsmanship or national perception. We're too talented to try to take our foot of gas even when we're up big. This offense should easily 40+.
 
I think Mario realized this by the end of the season along with how important point differential can be for close CFP races, which is why he kept his foot on the gas in the last game vs Pitt instead of running out the clock.
Who knows if 38-7 made a difference vs 31-7, but I don't think we'll be taking those chances going forward. The game has changed, "being a good sport" and running out the clock is a thing of the past when you're competing for titles this day and age.
 
I’ve always believed the Mario “meddling in the offense” narrative was overblown if not outright false. There is very little evidence of it.

I think Beck was more limited physically than Mensah will be and that will translate to more points/explosive plays regardless.

It's not our job to keep the rivals from looking bad.....
It's their job to try and keep us from making them look bad.
 
Too much run blocking talk coming out of fall camp for me to expect us lighting up the scoreboard early in year. Believe it all starts to come together offensively by October.

Watch the fsu game & nd game. Play calling changes as soon as we went uo by 2 scores & both teams almost came back
 
Style points matter but so does keeping your best players healthy.
If you're up by 4-5 tds after three quarters, might be better to rest your first team to lessen the chance of injury and to give the young'uns valuable experience. I don't need to see Mensah evading pass rushes or Fletcher pounding the rock when we're up 38-7. We've got depth but it can erode easily.
 
There’s a difference between keeping your foot on the pedal when you’re up 28-3 against FSU and Running up the score against an FCS team when it’s 50-0.

We need to not sit on leads. Our offensive game plans got very conservative once we had leads against both Notre Dame and FSU. Running the ball three times and punting doesn’t help anything. If we want to run the clock out we should focus on getting first downs and not just running to keep the clock moving.
