We should have burned the RS on Perry this year....

U said he should have got snaps in the victory formation. That’s idiotic to burn his shirt for that.

You guys are a funny bunch. I don't have 2000 posts because:

a- I have a ( great ) life with well, a job and stuff like that....
b- I don't measure my self worth by how many times I post anonymously on some fan message board;
c- I dont troll football message boards looking for affirmation.

5x- Yes, getting snaps in real games would get him MORE ready( Never argued that it would get him FULLY READY) for LSU than NO snaps. Absurd to argue opposite. Only reason to RS is if you think you get a 4rth year from him which maybe we do , maybe we dont.

And I do know more football than most of the knuckleheads on this thread, and board. Even if I dont have 4000 posts to my resume.

So lets say he starts & we go 6-6. Then you would be ing our recruiting class sucks.

At what point would you have burned his RS - when we were 5-0, 8-0 or 10-0 ??????
- I think MR needed as many in game snaps to get him ready

Kid wasnt ready

Our fan base should be crucified, upside down, as Marcus Crassus did to Spartacus’ Army after the Servile War, just for posts like this.

Wow, are people really this dumb? Just so I'm clear, you wanted to burn an entire year of eligibility so the kid could play somewhere between 20-30 snaps this season? OK then.

Yeah, what a stupid idea to burn a redshirt freshmans eligibility, especially late in the year. Terrible idea.

Re-read the post.

I clearly said " some series" as well as kneel downs. Plenty of teams put a freshman in to run one series a game. ****, the way our offense sputtered all year we had plenty of 3 and outs with Rosier.

Every player has 5 to play 4( barring medical redshirt), and they can declare after 3. Doesn't matter if he shirted, was 4rth string , etc. So " saving"
that year , especially at a skill position doesn't have that much value.

Name me the last good QB to play 4 years as a starter? Not just here, but anywhere.

IF the kid is top flight, he is gone after 3 years anyways. If his dream was to start 3 years at Miami he can do it even without the RS.

To me, redshirting Perry only made sense if we think he is going to play here for the next 4 years. Again, maybe he will but I think its unlikely.

Saban just showed how incredibly stupid it is to burn a freshman QBs redshirt. It will ruin them for life.

Luckily, if Perry starts next year, it will be against LSU on the road, so piece of cake

Tua was obviously ready to play and has played all year. Maybe, just maybe, Perry just wasn't ready to see the field.

Spin it anyway you wish, as Saban walks away with another NC, while losers with loser mentality watch

Bama blowing teams out at halftime helped Tua get reps all year. Too bad we didn't have that luxury

Perry also got here in the summer while Tua got to Tuscaloosa in the spring.

Either Perry isn't as good as Tua or Richt isn't as good as Saban. It's pretty simple.

I enjoy how people think Richt is either too inept or too stubborn to play a true frosh QB because of a shirt.

Richt has started a freshman almost exclusively before coming to Miami.

He went

01-04: Freshman who turned into a 4 year starter
05: 1 year gap starter
06-08: Freshman who turned into a 3 year starter
09: 1 year gap starter
10-13: Freshman who turned into a 4 year starter
14: 1 year gap starter

Richt would have loved to start Kosi I'm sure, but clearly he didn't believe he was ready.

Ummm..Tua came in last spring, he played all year as a backup, and he was the number 1 QB in the nation. Sorry, but that wasn't even close to a good comparison

Maybe both, though it's all speculation.
What isn't speculation, but fact, is that Saban id the unthinkable to some, "burned" a Freshman QBs redshirt...and just walked away with another NC specifically because of it.

Is there anyone who thinks that Perry was as good as Tua?

Tua was the top ranked dual QB in the country, Kosi was 7th.

Yeah, pity Kosi wasn't a Kyle Wright.
Well, Jarren better plan on sitting out then. 4 star and #7 dual QB "ratings".

The failures of the staff to develop Kyle Wright don't change the fact that ratings are usually spot on for the consensus best QBs.

Top QBs recently are guys like Eason, Rosen, Watson, Winston and Miller.

And yeah, it will not be surprising if guys like Trevor Lawrence and Justin Fields are better than Williams.
