We're paying too much money for a lot of things
It could always be “better” **** we COULD be holding teams to 10 ppg and be 8-0 right now but the defense is not losing us games they are actually keeping us in them…..respectfully, it could better ...

no argument from me that the defense has been improved ... but we give up way too many easy completions so it's hard to ignore the true potential of our defense if we were more aggressive in coverage ...It could always be “better” **** we COULD be holding teams to 10 ppg and be 8-0 right now but the defense is not losing us games they are actually keeping us in them…..
Yeah I’m not a fan of playing off coverage every play eitherno argument from me that the defense has been improved ... but we give up way too many easy completions so it's hard to ignore the true potential of our defense if we were more aggressive in coverage ...
Our defense has been excellent this szn stop it, we lost 2 games because of an inept offense and Carson Beck being trash
thats what happens when you have no inside DT pressure or good players.....they are worried and have them off. Coaching scared and cause of roster misses this is what happenswe finally have size and length (pause) but we don't challenge guys at the line ... free releases without rerouting ... a consistent theme of playing not to get beat this year ...
Louisville got 4 interceptions and ended with 24 points lol , so we lost because of our defense on day where our 4 million guy throws 4 books ? lol you got it broI am a fan of Heatherman. Just want to make that clear. But I'm gonna say something that's probably unpopular.
That was a terrible performance by the defense against SMU. The SMU team I watched should have been held to 3 points (off the Miami turnover). They had a QB that couldn't walk. They had an o-line that was far from impressive. Miami had 2 sacks and, for all intents and purposes, zero turnovers (a 4th down fumble that had zero impact). That's a game where the defense goes out and wins it for you. Miami held the ball for 2/3 of the game. And I watched guys gassed and unable to run, unable to keep up. The defense was on the field for 20 mins.
And then you look at the Louisville game and you go down 14-0 in the 1st quarter. That's absolutely unacceptable. I don't care what happened the rest of the game. That affected the offense and started this s*** show of a slide.
Another thing that really hasn't been discussed...Bain shouldn't have 2 sacks on the year. That's f***ing crazy. Like absolutely crazy. I don't care that he's getting held. He may not get to his 2024 total, where he played 4 less games. He has 4 tackles in the last 3 games and zero sacks. Mesidor has 13 tackles the last three weeks, and he missed a game. We've had 1 impactful turnover in the 2 games that mattered. QBs are able to get the ball out fast and the corners can't do s*** to stop it. It's like I'm watching the Syracuse game all over again.
I watched Louisville's games against Pitt and UVA. That offense did not look great. In fact, I was confident we'd win by 3 scores. I watched an SMU offense against Wake that looked like it couldn't move an inch. A QB that couldn't hit the broadside of a barn. Miller Moss looked just as bad. Yet both those guys looked stellar against this team. If this defense was real we beat Louisville and SMU by 2+ scores, even with a stagnant offense.

The last interception was irrelevant? it literally cost us the game we were in FG range at that point.Yea. Those INTs gave them starting field position at their own 32, 33, and 28. One INT was on 4th down. The 4th INT is irrelevant and ended the game. Terrible for the offense but never put the defense in bad field position.
How this isn’t discussed more is crazy work. We gave up 365 passing yards due to soft *** coverage. As much as I love Hetherman, I'm not a fan of our passive approach in the secondary.
The amount of times we play off and/or bail is frustrating to me. Leads to easy completions on the outside.
For us... bail is a purely situational call... and it's rare. Even in "off" coverage, we kick-step so that we can drive/break on "quick game" (hitch, slant, etc) Once the WR has established himself as going vertical, the CB can run out of his kick-step.
Miami's Corners bail like they're receiving the baton in the 400m.
No reason to play so passive with big CB's who can run. Particularly frustrating seeing as both starting CB's are my kids.![]()
Career high for Jennings who was playing on one leg. He’s been pretty inconsistent this year and we made him and Miller Moss look amazing. How this isn’t discussed more is crazy work. We gave up 365 passing yards due to soft *** coverage.
Someone who gets it …I see posters complaining about defense saying we were terrible , like my boy u not going 10 ppg against every team you play..hold opponents Ubder 28 n you’ll win most of the time in today’s CFB our problem is offensive coaching and special ed Beck under centerAt the end of the day, we're one of the top defenses in the country...particularly in the stat that matters the most - scoring.
This is a playoff level defense. The offense is the issue. (the opposite of last season)
**** you got some good DNA but a lot of child supportParticularly frustrating seeing as both starting CB's are my kids.![]()
They wheeled Toure, Texas’d Aguirre who looks like a DL now and base block Littlefoot while running right at him.We get at least one wheel route on Toure, every game. Remember Heatherman saying he had to get Pruitt on the field, no matter what, anybody seen Pruitt.
Hot take I wonder at what point is it better to just play Safety bodies in the LB spots more often, because they can tackle better than the LBs can cover and most of these opponents aren't big bruising run teams and it is too easy to isolate some slow LB who can't cover and milk offense that way.If you want to know what our 2025 exposure on defense is it's that our LBs are absolutely terrible in coverage. Honestly, the LBs in general has been pretty god awful.
