Burns can rush the passer. He's got a lot of weaknesses, but he can get after it. He would have been very good under Diaz. He'll also be drafted high.

Would I take him over Garvin, Jackson, Chad Thomas from a year ago? No. But, he may get drafted ahead of them all...because he's got that ++ ability to get after the QB.

No way in **** is he at the Joe Jackson level and I'm not sure I'd put him ahead of Garvin. Burns does nothing for long parts of games. He isn't a great run defender. One of our best opportunities is to run the ball at him for the first half to wear him down.

like what you are saying here. Haven't really seen the screens too much so far this year to Homer and DJ. That is just as effective of slowing down a pass rush.

We are allowed 85 scholarships. That is an ave of about 21 a year. Just a consecutive estimate probably 50 a year in Miami metropolitan area with FBS ships Do the math. Can not sign all.of them even if we wanted them. Yet every year people whine on here about some we did not sign

we did offer but he's just lying about not receiving one.
 
I don’t care about Burns he would be the 4th best DE at Miami... NEXT!

Burns was all lined up to go to Georgia(when richt was there) and then when he got fired and came to Miami along with coach rumph his hs coach Brian burns still didn’t have any interest which is crazy to think about but unfortunately that’s just the way some recruiting battles go. Never had any interest in Miami
 
He's a good pass rusher but the dude is rail thin. Run the ball right at him. I think FSU lists him as 6'5" 236 lbs. He's maybe 225 with those chicken legs. One trick pony.

I got four negs for saying Burns would be behind Jackson, Garvin and Patchan here. Fair enough. The kid is a stud and I wanted him to commit to us big-time coming out of HS. I accept he has exceptional TFL production, and we need to account for him tomorrow because our tackles aren't quick enough to do more than steer him beyond the pocket.

That said, I still think Burns is the type of rush-specialist hybrid who we struggle to find a role for. Reminds me of Tyriq McCord, who I loved. But at 235-240 pounds, he's too light to handle the run effectively, which shows up on film. Jacks and Garvin are bigger and stronger, hold the POA better, and IMHO are just as twitchy. Patchan is 30 pounds heavier than Burns, does a great job now of setting the edge, and is still fast twitch. He may be ranked behind Burns, but he'd probably see more snaps because of his versatility. Rousseau is too young, I shouldn't have made that comparison, But I still like his potential more than Burns.

I guess we'll see on Saturday how effective the kid will be. If Richt plans correctly for him in his play-calling, I expect Gray to block downhill on him in pass protection, and St Louis and Donaldson to manhandle him on running plays. He'll get his. But overall I think we contain his disruptive potential. On the other hand, I don't see FSU's OL containing our rush.
 
When we're up 48 on these clowns late tomorrow I hope we can cease talking about ANY guys on their roster that shoulda/coulda been on ours. Let's just label them all as bums.
 
The way some people are sucking Burns off I thought I was on a FSU fan site by mistake.
