We need WR and ST Coaches

I'm well aware...we were pulling that at UM going back to the early 80s....BUT....it ain't working here now.

I must have missed where our ST coach went? We actually have 3 of them fully dedicated to ST. Malouf from the NFL and Kalter who was here last year and ran the whole thing anyway.

The only thing we didn't do was give a guy a title (like Patke). The calls are still coming in exactly the same from the booth to the designated person on the sideline (again used to be Patke). Now I believe calls are coming from the booth directly to Mario.

Under Golden we didn't even dedicate a ST coordinator or have anyone in the booth at all. He ran it entirely himself from the sideline, installed it all on his own, and coached it during practice. Coverages were terrible but we had good specialists under him.

If you can't get a ST ace coach that can also coach a position.. everyone else is running it through an analyst communicating to the "Special Teams Coordinator" by title. Not the issue.
 
The last sentence in OP is not a known fact. It is silly, childish fake knows without empirical evidence to support it. The lack of basic knowledge about coaching staff composition and rules further demonstrates the OP's distance from reality. And that is a known fact.

Is there an assistant WR coach/analyst, not ‘on-the-field’? Like Jason Taylor works with the DEs (in addition to on-field DT and DE coaches)?

If there isn’t one, get one. Or two….

The **** Duper did for Hankerson can't be done for an entire unit of WR's man! 🤦🏻‍♂️
Especially at a tempo'd team practice.
That **** was private and individual specific.

And WTF does Duper know about our offense or how to run routes within the offense?

Y'all just be throwing 💩 against the wall.

As many have pointed out, we already have analysts that effectively act as coaches for the WR, but it we wanted to have an official WR coach then we would need to remove one of our other official coaches due to the NCAA limit of 10 coaches.

To those that talking about WRs catching better, that is certainly an issue and something that needs to be worked on by each receiver, but there do seem to be other issues that could be influenced by coaching - from Gattis:

“You look at it from a receiver standpoint, (the mistakes were) we were in a wrong split or ran the wrong depth of the route or we didn’t finish the play. We’ve just got to get more. We have to continue to do better. They’re a young group. It’s our time right now to put our hand behind them and push them forward, put an arm around those guys, instill confidence in them.”

Obviously the WRs need to be playing their part in learning/doing that, but it would at least appear the issue is more than just not catching the ball or being more aggressive, so I think it is fair to ask can that coaching be improved somehow.

If there is one area where I will absolutely not doubt Mario, it is program operations and **** like who gets labeled what. He’s been around the best. Plenty of other stuff that is fair game right now.
