This is something that was said under another thread and posted by @DMoney that we really need to consider. Our staff needs to hype this thought and really get behind it if we are not going to play some of the other games that are being played when it comes to recruiting and/or until we start consistently winning big on the field to where the other games will impact us as much. Bottom line our geographic location and all that it has to offer makes this an advantage that we can and should embrace. Implementing a strategy to be the top college choice for impactful grad transfer can never be a bad thing even when we are getting recruits.

@DMoney said it best “We need to be Grad Transfer U. We are an attractive destination to spend a year.

It’s not a substitute for recruiting but it’s a supplement to make sure you always have mature, strong players at physical positions.”

This isn’t exactly a bad thing it’s a smart way of getting decent upperclassmen kids to fill holes on your roster that happened from recruiting misses from a few years back or early NFL departures...

OL/DL should always be mined as it can help dig up some gems...

It’s all we can do because who else will Miami gets from high schools this cycle?

Terrible mentality to try and become Grad Transfer U. Yes, let's take grad transfers and dominate that new area of recruiting but got to land the studs in our backyard and that will only happen with winning as D$ articulated

This doesn’t totally replace recruiting you taking it too far. Smh Grad transfers will happen every year and to take the best 2-3 Grad transfers on the market every year to help us win now will never hurt. The reality is not every recruit walks on campus ready to contribute at a high level every year. Look at Nest for example he had all the accolades coming in but might not have been ready to contribute year 1 and we are all praying that he is ready to break through year 2. Plain and simple impact Grad Transfers help bridge the gap until some of our recruits are ready wether blue chips are some that need development time.

Not every Freshman is going to be able to start and contribute at a high level like Dexter Lawrence, Trevor Lawrence and etc.

Promoting this mindset will further destroy UM football IMO.

Think it through. Mr. 5 Star from south Florida tells UM coaches, Im gonna sign with Clemson and see if I can crack the starting line up there, win a national title or two and if it doesn't work out for me there, I'll come back and sign with you guys for a year or two.

This is the same way we should handle JUCO.No reason we shouldn’t be scouring the JUCO ranks to find not only kids with playing experience but kids that have been in an environment that they eat and lift right.

Never a bad thing to get experienced kids to fill areas of your roster lacking in playing experience that you don’t have to wait to mature.

Right now we could use this type player on the OL,QB,TE( blocking ) and DT.

Fold the prgram then

Lets get players that cant get playing time elsewhere and lets get fifth year guys that suck

A resonable post that does not belong on the new CIS forum which is made up of negative Nancies and crybaby Carls of the world.

CIS stands for Canes Insipid Summations nowadays.

Question for you What is Mr. 5 Star doing right now? We saw a small sample size of what they tell UM coaches and what they do today? Until we win consistently and show that we sign get Mr. 5 star no need to hold a spot for him.

We need to get what we can get now to win and worry about what ifs later.

It’s a great way to fill holes on the roster with guys that are physically ready to compete.

Who said that just because a kid is a grad transfer that means he can't get playing time anywhere else or at his previous school? Everything that is different doesn't always mean its bad or negative. I clearly said the top 2-3 grad transfers and there are plenty of kids that are starting and looking to transfer to go to a better program and win and etc. etc.

What was Dee Delany? A 5th string cb at Citadel before coming here I guess. What was Lawrence Cager here 5th string WR I guess? He a grad transfer though.

And who said we can't be selective with who we want as a grad transfer?

No we don’t want to become Kansas State.

Did you notice the post said "Grad Transfer U" not just Transfer. There is a difference you know. Smh. It also did not say 2nd chance U either before you try and say that. Smh

If they can play and have love for the U bring em down. Let’s play ball!

What exactly is the difference? Please explain. Love to hear how we build a powerhouse with second chance kids.

Agreed. We’ve had bad luck recently with JC talent but it’s an easy way to build depth

Not "Grad Transfer U", but definitely exploit the new transfer rules to our advantage.
We should also find ways to maintain contact with some of these soFla kids that went for the bags.
Perhaps not directly, but with their HS coaches, parents, former teammates......yes, I know, it's tampering, but so be it.
Who knows, maybe we get them their cars will be paid off.
