We need the defense to step up in a massive way on the 24th

Before I get jumped, let me just preface this by saying I believe we'll have at the very least a very decent offense towards the end of the season. Much better than any we've had in the previous several years. It was so bad, it has no choice but to improve under Enos. In addition, neither does our entire season rest on the UF game. We can lose, and still have a very good (arguably not great) season.

But

We need to beat the Gator. I quite literally cannot tolerate that program and I hope the vast majority of the fans and all the players feel the same way. Those colors disgust me to my core. They cause my soul itself to recoil. The fans.... good lawd. Has there ever been such arrogant filth gracing the Earth? They cannot be allowed a victory.

Unfortunately as it stands, reports at this stage are confirming what shouldn't at all be a surprise: The offense is going to be rough going out the gate. New scheme, new QB, porous Oline so devoid of depth we're starting a true freshman (not an indictment of him but of the upper classmen). They may win us games down the stretch, but they will not win us this game. The defense has to, like they largely did against ND in 17 and against FSU last year.

All the offense, and especially the QB, have to do is not lose us the game with turnovers. Take what is given, no playing hero. If we're going off of the first scrimmage alone (we are obviously not) then that would be Tate. Give me the sacks over turn overs any day but especially this day. The D Line needs to feast like their eternal souls depend on it. The backfield has to play above and beyond what their experience dictates. I have faith that it can be done. But let's not get our hopes up that there will be some offensive miracle the other side of the ball on day 1. Defense has been the life and soul of this team since Manny arrived and it will continue to be until the O proves otherwise on the field.

TLDR: Offense sucks, won't suck forever, but sucks now until proven otherwise and the defense is going to have to play lights out to get us the W in Orlando.

I agree and think that our inexperience vs their experience is going to be a problem as the game gets closer, specifically our DBs vs their receivers.

Finley, Pinckney and Bandy all with pics.

Due mainly to Rousseau and Garvin constant QB pressures. Our safety position is looking crazy right now as well. D got this, but I believe our RBs are gonna eat.

Last game they played? Richt still calling the plays and leading the team?

Yes, with nearly the same chit O line. Swap out Richt and swap in a completely new offensive system and QB and you're saying you think they're gonna be good out the gate? Lol, cause that's what you must be saying to be disagreeing with me.

There’s No better receiving unit for our defense to practice against other than Miami’s own. Should have the dbs ready to go

I'm actually not really worried about our DBs that much. They're the most athletic they've been in awhile and yet we've stepped up there every year, don't see why it should be any different now.

While I agree, outside of Osborn and JT, who has experience?
Experience didn’t help that uf unit vs teams with legit defenses especially passing the ball. They have very mediocre production. Our top 2 guys are very experienced guys, Jordan and Harley. The rest is largely based on high potential as it is a talented group .

Their experience is what worries me moreso than their actual talent. Our depth isn't the best at CB either. God forbid if Bandy goes down, we'd be trotting out Couch and Bethel to defend juniors and seniors.

It didn't help but those legit defenses didn't have inexperienced DB's either. They also beat all of those legit defenses with the exception of UGA.

The defense sucked in Golden's entire tenure here, not just the last season or game.

How quickly did Manny turn it around?

There is zero reason Enos, with his sound scheme and experience can't turn things around offensively just as quickly.

In college football a team with talent can change overnight with proper coaching. We've just seen it first hand here.

*Quicker. Manny didn't play #8 ranked rival opponent in his first game.

So yes we'd be asking Enos to do an even more miraculous job than Diaz did. I call that a tad unrealistic.

They did worse than suck in the last game they played, and were being abused in the scrimmage. So until proven otherwise, yes, at the very least they can't be counted on to be very good.

This is a ridiculous take.

Correct. I'd be giddy if UF were scheduled at the end of September as it would give the offense time to go through the motions.

We're breaking in a inexperienced OL and QB with a new HC against a "top 10" team which just came off a 10-win season, is full of juniors and seniors, and had a top 20 defense. The only things that levels all of this out is that its a rivalry game and they're replacing multiple starters on the OL.
