We need a real Rival on Rivalry weekend.

Unless we manufacture a rival, it ain't happening. Here are Miami's biggest rivals and who they play on rivalry weekend:

FSU (Florida)
Florida (Don't play every year and they play FSU every year on rivalry weekend anyway)
ND (Don't play every year and they play at Stanford or at USC to end every season)
VT (Virginia)

Our biggest rivals (FSU AND VT) play other schools today.

Start a “Miami/Paradise Classic” - play a Florida school at home every year like FAMU, FIU, FAU.
Throw a huge concert, battle of the bands, etc. Blow it up like Essence festival or Mardi Gras.
End every year with an easy win and big *** party.

Would love to know why we got stuck playing Pitt every season instead of BC. It makes no sense.

Because Pitt is in the Coastal, and BC isn't. FSU is Miami's automatic crossover, so that spot is already filled. BC rotates in every once in awhile, but not often enough for it to be a rivalry. The only way that changes is if BC gets swapped with Pitt in the Coastal. I doubt that happens.

Our traditional rivals are booked. Pittsburgh’s traditional rivals, Penn State and West Virginia, moved to other conferences. We’ll have to live with Pitt, unless the ACC expands to a 9 game conference schedule.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Blake James does not make the weekly schedule that Miami plays.

I wish we played Florida every year and alternated the last game of the season between the two. Florida would never agree obviously. As much as I hate the Noles, I have always respected them for playing us and UF year in and year out without a hiccup.

A lot of these game are against instate universities and some states have passed legislation to insure these games are played on the last regular season game.

So, politics are involved.

Pitt and Penn State play every year, no? They could move their game to the last of the season and make it their rivalry game which would free us up. I think PSU played Maryland yesterday and the B1G is trying to manufacture that rivalry, so it could be a contractual think with the conference.

I don't see it getting changed anyway.

Pitt and PSU do not play every year. I think that ended when Pitt joined the Big East. I think they only play occasionally now. But, yeah, they are traditional rivals.

Pitt and WVU are also old rivals, but they no longer play since WVU bolted to the Big-12. (still a head scratcher to me)
