This is untrue. Shalala was not happy with the progress Haith was making. It was well known privately. She wasn't about to fire him right then or anyhing, but there was a belief we were stagnating.

Just because your President is smart enough to support a coach in the press and not undermine recruiting doesn't mean you have to believe it.

This is untrue. Shalala was not happy with the progress Haith was making. It was well known privately. She wasn't about to fire him right then or anyhing, but there was a belief we were stagnating.

I still cant believe they did that. He has zero connections to the Midwest, we hadn't achieved anything of true significance, and he was not a hot commodity. Huge, huge favor if you add in the Shapiro stuff that was revealed a few months later.

Haith was going to be on the hot seat last year... one tourney appearance in 7 years wasn't going to cut it. The fans were starting to turn against him, as well. Also, isn't it the AD's call to fire a coach? I'm sure that President Shalala has a lot of input on the big decisions, but it's not like she's making all of the decisions for the athletic director.

He was a highly-touted assistant coach at Texas, so he had connections to the Big XII. Mizzou didn't decide to leave for the SEC until months after Haith had been hired.

So you are making an absolute statement as if you have inside knowledge about the only reason Shannon got fired (first bolded part), and then condemning someone else for giving you inside knowledge about something (second bolded part)?

I am sharing something with you. I am not an insider. I have no desire for anyone to believe I am an insider. In fact, I wouldn't even say that what I said IS inside information. Just that what Smokey said was completely wrong and misguided.
