We had hope.
For me it is more of a disappointment than surprise.

just curious but why would you have hope?

anyone, and i mean anyone, can say the obvious things like “we need to play violent and fast”. i mean people really think that comment meant manny knew how to run a program.

the stupidity of some folks is mindblowing and scary.

I think it is the nature of being a fan. To have the drive to go the game and support the team. Why would you go to games if you know there is no hope of winning? For me, I just wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt.

The rollercoaster of emotions within that 24hr window when Richt resigned & those ****** idiots hired Manny was insane. We had a get out of jail free card, but our admin insists on setting this program back constantly.

My initial, gut reactions on both the Richt and Diaz hires were that they were lackluster.

I bought in both time like a sucker.

I’ve learned, however, at this point that all of our vitriol should be aimed at Flake James. Diaz was a bad hire, but it’s not his fault he got hired. James is a lazy, incompetent athletic director. Until he goes, expect an — at best — sub par program.

I said since the hire he is the worst coach ever hired by this program, my posts were closed, i was negged over and over, what did anyone see in him he was way over his head how could anyone not see this coming
When we hired Manny I was more ****ed at the process, or lack there of. He was hired in hours with no interviews.

I was almost as surprised how fast they hired Diaz as Richt's sudden retirement itself. As many have said its like they thought all that was needed was a change at the OC and we'd be set. Hate to say it but it might take losing out and looking the way we have to get rid of Diaz after this year. If that would happen I'll sign up for it, tough love approach.

He is not up to being a head coach of a major college team, at least yet. He reminds me of the hire of Randy Shannon. A good position coach, but not head coach material. Smells like another hire to placate the players. Unless he decides to leave for another job, we are stuck with him due to his buyout.

We should have let him cut his teeth at Temple, and then down the road hired him if he was performing well.

Why are we hiring so many first year head coaches?
Coker
Shannon
Manny

3 of the last 5. They don’t have great coaching connections, and they’ve got a lot to learn. We can do better than taking first year guys ffs.

Go get a proven winner who has excelled on one side of the ball and has a healthy amount of experience (e.g. Mike Gundy, etc).

Getting rid of Diaz, without getting rid of James does nothing for us. He's just gonna **** it up again.

Yup, no one should be mad at Diaz. Flake James chose to hire a green coach without interviewing any other candidates. We should be flying banners to get him canned, not Diaz.
This where I disagree!! Yes Manny wasn’t a good hire but Manny could’ve very easily demanded money for top flight staff. It was Manny who hired Baker and keep Banda,Patke and Rumph. Blake had nothing to do with that. Manny hired Enos and gave him total control not Blake James.

I hear ya. And don’t necessarily disagree, but Diaz is low-hanging fruit. Flake is the real problem.

Minnie was a Temple hire. That is all.
