We have to change our philosophy to keep Miami kids home

Pls stfu. All you need is a top 15 class and great coaching every year to be in the cfp. We have that. Go cry somewhere else.

Many of these po-dunk towns provide a much better college football atmosphere than Miami does. Miami has nightlife and the beach. We have some of the most beautiful women in the world but they don't even know who you are. They're too busy chasing Marlins, Heat and Dolphins players. There's plenty stuff to do in a place like Knoxville...like...Go to class, play football, bang a new groupie every day.

If you're a football player in one of these towns you're the man. In Miami you're just a small fish. We're a large city with 3 major franchises and countless celebrity residents.

Winning will give us the vast majority of these players bc they'll want to stay at home and play in front of their fam and friends.

Win, were in. Let everyone(recruiting websites) around the country keep discounting some of the talent in South Florida.

The SEC is just filthy in recruiting.

These kids are leaving to go to rural country living- Knoxville, Tuscaloosa, Auburn, Athens, Baton Rouge, and Trailerhassee (FAMU I know).

Do we not know how to drop bags, give out cars, or new girlfriends/associates without a trail of evidence?

Can we spy on an SEC team(s) and learn how?

We will continue this mediocrity if we try to play squeaky clean. NCAA will not truly investigate the SEC. Ole Miss is only being investigated because Saban and Emmert were snitching to each other.

We got to get a 50K stadium and put that revenue into the homes of these savages or handlers.

I'm waiting to be attacked :-). I read waaay more than I post often for a reason. Can't wait for 2016 season to see if we've progressed to a 9+ win football team. 2017 recruiting - another roller coaster I'm sure.

You will not be attacked by me for speaking the truth.

Sure it is so much easier to beat our collective chests talking about how some our past greats weren't 4-5 stars. How our facilities were never that great. How we never had an on campus stadium....yet we kicked *** and outworked everybody else.

Different time...completely different atmosphere...completely different recruits. We are in the hotbed of recruiting with high school coaches and "mentors" on the take preaching NFL and the best way to get there while their families are "assisted" until then. We have our alumni and "boosters" spread all out with morons like Nevin Shapiro trying to the do the local work in anything but undercover and subtle fashion.

From buy out clauses in coaching contracts to recruiting tactics to facilities.....we are more than a decade behind, with better year round weather and South Beach to distinguish us. Brutal.

We better hope we start out working and out coaching the competition.

Agree on pretty much all these points. There is no god**** reason any recruit from our area should be going to some rural shlthole except for the bagmen.

They go to be prepared for the NFL

These SEC schools we lost recruits to have better coaching at the position the kid plays, better S&C, and better training facilities

They were better at all those things. Remains to be seen of that is still true. All the more reason 2017 is a much better litmus test in terms of this staff and recruiting.

Just being real. The "bagman" thing is a myth and it just lets the real culprits...the Miami admin...off the hook

We're getting out what we put in, in terms of resources and support

If you want better recruiting classes, lobby UM to spend more on assistant coaches and facilities

College Football Fans Must Read "Meet The Bag Man" - Blog Huddle

So out of curiousity, this "myth"....is it due to fictional reporting? A general inability to read or comprehend what is read? Blissful ignorance? A strong, almost religious belief in sheer coincidence? The unanimous love and admiration for the magnanimous personalities of Jimbo Fischer, Nick Saban and Urban Meyer? What?

miami is doing all that. we upgraded facilities alot. indoor practice bubble is next. this staff had 1 month to really recruit and did a nice job. they cut the guys who aren't miami quality. miami landed a pretty good class. small but solid , 2017 will be much better class.

people need to grow a pair. miami only had like 23 spots anyways. got 18. so 5 spots for next year, this whole staff should do a much better job starting next year but alot of miami area kids miami came in to late on.

yes losing byrd hurt, losing wiliams who knows he was a commit 1 week and richards, bruce, mullins are all better players. this is a solid class but alot of the lack of miami area kids in dade and broward had more to do with golden and what went on during season and coming late to party with to many of them once richt took over.

guys like manuel had no interest at that point. alot of guys miami chased hard and just had them stick to teams they were already commited to for most part. miami will do much better in dade/broward/palm beach next year then this , this staff deserves more then 1 month to be judged on and this class avg star rating is much higher then any golden class period.

richt isn't gonna just take 10 projects to get to 22 players.

Right, winning counts for nothing. Playing in what is perceived to be the best conference counts for nothing.

We have to take a good team to the woodshed before we can say that we're back. If we develop 3 and 4 star players we'll be just fine but our biggest issue seems to be winning BIG on the road.We don't compete on the road and good teams travel anywhere and take their "A" game with them on the road.I feel that we need to control the ND game before we can look like we are turning the corner.

Of course that is a factor. If I'm leaving South Florida to some unfamiliar college town, I would prefer my dolla bills to be coupled with a winning program and coach.

Winning for us is almost everything if we are ever to going to recruit in that stratosphere.

Now, as for UT getting 2 good ones from us this year so late...your going to have to explain to me how "winning" played the major role there.

Facts, nothing but facts in this post.

We used to have the Miami mystique where games were won even before the opening whistle due to the outstanding and dominant play of our players through the years. We were a pipeline to the NFL and that benefited players in the later rounds as well since they got the Miami bonus for just playing here.

We've gotta get back to winning. Once that happens, that will be our biggest sell. The local guys, unless they're a student of history, don't know **** about what we used to be.

I'm happy with this class. Sure, there's some other recruits I would've loved to have as well, but for such a short time on the job, I think Richt and company did an outstanding job.

UT getting those two isn't surprising to me at all.

Byrd had his best friend who lives with him already on board there. They trip together, have a blast, and look at one another knowing they can do this for another four or five years. Richt and company only had so much time at him while Byrd was familiar with UT's staff for much longer through not only himself, but association Fils.

Williams, basically the same deal with Richt. I don't know that UT was that far behind in their contact with him if behind at all since coaches can't comment on it. He took a trip to us and then, he obviously liked something more. I figured once Bruce was on board, there was.a good possibility this would happen. I'm not saying he's scared of competition, but there's only so many passes to go around.

I'm not sure winning mattered for with either in this case. For other guys, i think it would've been a factor though.
