Coach Richt is stuck in a very hard place right now... He has a pro style Quarterback in a duel threat world. In college football the defensive ends and lineman are no longer un athletic and there are athletes everywhere.

Just going out and out talanting people is still there but on any given day you can loose. The biggest thing that has changed to me is that offenses with a duel threat quarterback if run well are almost unstoppable. Its a game of who can score the most points. That gives me so much hope for our defense and you can see the change because we are literally asking them to shut these high power teams down without the offense scoring. Its amazing we have not given up way more points!

Nick Saban realized himself that he would no longer be able to just have the top defense in the nation because you just cant game plan for a dual threat quarterback fully. Teams will score and if you just have a pro style offense you will most likely lose.

Kayaa is not what we thought at the beginning of the season and he O line is bad but until a dual threat quarterback comes in and we have a stable of them in case one gets hurt. (Like Ohio State and I hate them) we have to temper expectations. Defenses are way much better than years before when we dominated. Simple first downs from a quarterbacks legs mean so much...

yea man after seeing the article it reinforced everything I was thinking. Keep Diaz no matter what but evolve on offense is the key. Perry if handled correctly could be the catalyst for many dual threat quarterbacks in the future.

yes its pro style but the threat of a dual threat makes up for it. We have no threat... That 6-5 linebacker ran mark Walton down last night in the flat,before we could make a move and evade that back in the day. We use to be one of the only schools with freak athletes but everyone has them now.

even if its not a QB labeled dual threat miami needs a desperate infusion of athleticism at that position. unc's quarterback is not labeled dual threat but he was still athletic enough to make our defense pay and pick up chunk yards when the opportunity came. being able to extend drives and frustrate defenses even if briefly is invaluable to a team. if clemson had a statue quarterback in that national title game last year its not even a close game he would've been sacked so many times, his athletic ability kept giving the team new life on offensive drives

However, the root of our issues is talent on the OL and philosophical. There is no way we should think that we can skip the first level which is maintenance and throw in a dual threat QB and think that we can drive our way on to a NC. The car is worn out and changing drivers is not going to keep it from breaking down consistently this time next season.

having a dual threat wont solve all the issues you're right but it can make the difference in a game or two by extending drives, which also gives the defense rest. you cant tell me that you haven't looked at games this year and said to yourself, wow if we had a QB that could run on that play there was a gaping hole there to pick up a **** ton of yardage, or maybe a more athletic guy could've escaped that sack and extended that play, I have its frustrating to watch.

Yes, I have shared all of those thoughts, however I found that when I took my emotions out of it; I could see the problem for exactly what it is. Then I was better able to solve the problem for the long-term, therefore permanently resolving that problem. Like my old ride, it has new rims and interior but I can put you in it right now and you couldn't drive it to the store. Same is true with this team and the hope's for Perry. He'll look good during practice but next season this time we'll be back sitting on the same level wondering why the offense doesn't move.

he's never had to scheme around such garbage and perhaps it's showing

what should be promising is you guys are seeing the adjustments. We were in the I formation and now you're seeing shotgun spread formations with vertical routes in a short 2 week span

That would be ideal however Kaaya seems to be more comfortable in the shotgun. Plus add in the fact that our o lines doesn't get much push on running plays and running I formation becomes a bad idea. The offense is broken and I'm not sure there's a fix right now.
