We have a true freshmen and a RS Frosh on his other side

We’ve had a good defensive line practicing with our O-line for the last few years, that hasn’t translated to the offensive line being better. What exactly has changed? Like OP said, we have a TF at LT... I’m not fooling myself into thinking that the offensive line will have made monumental improvements, but I will hope for incremental improvements, packaged with a change in offensive strategy taking the pressure off.

I expect mistakes, and will have to roll with the punches because despite all the fan banter, this Gator defense will be the best D we play all year. If JW plays even half way decently, we’re in for a special season. Not trying to give him an excuse, just pointing out facts.

The Virginia Cavaliers will likely be the best defense we face all year and I don't believe it will be all that close when you look at Florida compared to them when the season ends.

UF was 20th last season and lost legit starters and a lot of quality depth. UVA lost a bit but has most of their two deep returning and they finished 21st in total defense and better than UiF in most other categories including rush yards and total yards.

Agree about VA defense being better than the Crocs. Firmly believe Cane defense best defense they go against.

I'm expecting improvement because of better coaching, Feeley's influence, and the fact that the staff seems to have a unit in place. I have no idea how they could even function last year with all the changing personnel. Communication and calling the right protections are also part of a good line.

I think you guys are missing something. Our offensive line was not even terrible last year...we had very specific problems;

-Left side of the offensive line had poor communication when attempting to pick up players stunting.
-The scheme as a whole lacked built-in counters to an obvious blitz (outside of a predetermined throw to the spot that we expected the defender to leave open).
-The most asinine thing was our disability to pick up or counter a corner back blitz.

also our OC thought he was playing original techmo bowl and only had 4 plays

We are going to punish UVA.

This was in large part due to the OL playing musical chairs with positions every game last year. They had no chance in **** to jell and become a
cohesive unit last year because of dumb coaching.

I’d take Gators defense over UVA’s defense all day. Yea stats don’t lie, but they also don’t tell the full story. The only team with an offensive pulse that UVA played last year was Oregon, and Oregon dropped 44 on them. Outside of that their schedule was very soft (us included).

I just wouldn’t underestimate the gators defense, is all I’m saying.

Just thinking for the 2020 season: if big ND stays for his senior year, we will have our entire starting OL, QB and TEs back on offense. We will have Harris, Burns and Lingard back at RB. We will have 3, 7, 8 and 12 back at WR.

Talent plus experience. 🙌

ZERO EXCUSES.

I wanted Jarren too but I'm not trying to hear all the talk about freshman this or new system that so we gotta cut him slack. No excuses.

Sink or swim time.

Beat the Gator.

This season reminds me of the 98 year after they went 5-7 and you could just see the talent and momentum was building to what would be something special.

Feels more like 99 or 2000 to me.

JT is a proven playmaker, not an unheralded Moss. Dj is gonna have a big year and Cam,Lo, and Burns will provide a dynamic rushing attack as a unit somewhat near what EJ did. We got JW, more talented but less experienced than Covington. Interior ol is solid, exterior is questionable. We are deeper everywhere but ol.

Defense is rock solid and more experienced. Depth is good if freshmen are decent.

Offense is talented and stabilizing after under achieving.

Schedule is WAY easier.

As long as Williams is poised, with this schedule, it will be a 2000 like season.

Lots of bigger holes on the other teams in the Coastal. Win the Coastal. No more dopey pre-excuse-making.

This. We're talking about a division with the ACC that would struggle to have a .500 W/L percentage in the American Conference. Just as UCF is not a top 10 team but can go undefeated or 1-loss, we should run the table in the Coastal.

If you were to look at any of the combined rosters between Miami and any Coastal team, how many of the starting 22 and next 22 would be Miami kids vs. the opponents? I really struggle to find one team in the Coastal where I'd trade any of our starters outside of a couple of OL and possibly QB. We have no reason to lose to even one of them. UVa is the closest thing to a threat we'll see..

It appears that we have a squad that will play like Hurricanes. Cannot ask for any more then that. Did anyone think less of our team when we got robbed against OSU? or the officiating again when we lost to ND at ND. The Hurricane thing is 60 minutes of category 5 Hurricane effort and may the best team win. Well the best team doesn't always win ala the two mentioned games. The fire in the belly of this team is inspiring already and based on that effort they deserve thorough and loyal support. I always expect an undefeated season but know that most every other team in the Fall expects the same, we expect it more and for once in a long time we have a coaching staff that is invigorated, knows our history and demands maximum effort. For 58 games straight many of us saw our Hurricanes win game after game in the old OB, often in the last seconds but our teams and fans expected wins up to the final gun. Now we need Hard Rock to Rock you like a Hurricane! IT'S GREAT TO BE....
