We need a good coach and a good fit. When JJ was at Oklahoma St nobody had heard of him and OSU was average. Dennis came from a unranked Wash State but he was innovative. Both surrounded themselves with good assistants and nailed the local recruiting grounds of South Florida. It’s why Manny was familiar that Blake hired him. Manny was over his head as we know. There is a lot of talent out there we need the AD position closed and the hunt can begin for the needle in the haystack but it is there and chances we don’t know him. The main thing he has experience , passion and a win at all costs attitude.

Define "big name coach." Everyone's name is known.

There is no substance to your replies. This is a big country there are many many coaches that are competent and making their marks at schools you don’t even know. A good AD LIKE Sam Jankovich who found Jimmy is paid to spot talent period end of story.

It can happen (Matt Ruhl from Temple). Depends on if you want to risk it again. It’s hard to project that jump.

Hopefully he brings in a true spread guy (at OC), so there won’t be too much change in the terminology. It’s speeds up the learning learning process, if our kids don’t have to learn a new “language”.

Many suggested this meant we are now "in a pickle"...
...but then a few suggested this could mean (Luke) Fickell. lol.
OTOH now that his buddy got the ND HC promotion, even with his Ohio "ties", when the CFP are over and he
can smell fresh money better, maybe we can have another surprise!! (if Mario says no.)

May the Force be with "U"S!

The Ed Reed was a 2 star crowd has entered the building
When it is all said and done it’s been a very few of these big names that ever got to the promised land. Find me a fresh new on their way , innovative by today’s standards type of emerging head coach that is off the radar. Then ya got something🙌

Jeesus, it’s hard enough to win with a proven coach and you want to go with another project? And has it not occurred to you that what worked 30 years ago may not work now? It used to be easier to recruit Miami because other schools didn’t have the history, money, or relationships down there they have now.
