text on page 58 of the USC report:

9. Limit of 15 initial grants-in-aid and 75 total grants in football for each of the 2011-12, 2012-13 and 2013-14 academic years.

text on page 19 of the OSU* report:

3. Limit total grants-in-aid in the sport of football to 82 for each of the 2012-13, 2013-14 and 2014-15 academic years. [NOTE:The institution had proposed a reduction in the number of initial scholarships awarded in the sport of football by a total of five spread over the 2012-13, 2013-14, and 2014-15 academic years.]

text on page 5 of the PSU report:

Four-year reduction of grants-in-aid. For a period of four years commencing with the 2013-2014 academic year and expiring at the conclusion of the 2016-2017 academic year, the NCAA imposes a limit of 15 initial grants-in-aid (from a maximum of twent-five allowed) and for a period of four years commencing with the 2014-2015 academic year and expiring at the conclusion of the 2017-2018 academic year a limit of 65 total grants-in-aid (from a maximum of 85 allowed) for football during each of those specified years. In the event the number of total grants-in-aid drops below 65, the University may award grants-in-aid to non-scholarship student-athletes who have been members of the football program as allowed under Bylaw 15.5.6.3.6

but the text on page 63 of the miami report makes NO mention of initial scholarships/grants-in-aid:

3. Reduction in Athletics Awards. The total number of athletically related financial aid awards in football shall be reduced by a combined total of nine during the 2014-15, 2015-16 and 2016-17 academic years. The institution shall reduce the total number of athletics awards during each academic year. The institution has the option of assigning the reductions during those years.

we only got total scholarship limits. and they can be of any combination of our choice, that adds up to 9. so 82/82/82, or 84/84/78, but how we get there is up to us. we can sign 25 kids a year.

crown shalala. crown golden. crowns for EVERYONE!

This was my presumption in the other thread. 82 is the cap for the next 3 seasons, now. ****, if by attrition or other recruiting circumstances we're below 82, that just eats into the 9 total schollies we have to have limited ourselves for the next 3 years.

For instance: say we somehow strike out on some guys in recruiting and we only carry 80 players next year...that's a 5 scholly reduction for next year, and only 4 left to split between 2015 and 2016.

We can limit 5, then 3, then 1. Essentially, if we manage this right, its "over" in two years, next year if we truly wanted it to be with 6, then 2, then 1. That's laughable. I'm literally LOLing

Actually the math is cumulative so you can't replace the 3 annually reduced spots until the end of in 2016, the roster has to be at 76 scholarship players by the end of the 2016 season. How we get to that number over three years is up to Miami.

Go Canes

it's not cumulative...where do you get that? That would be 9 scholarships in 2016. We could be at 82 for three years, or be at 84, 84, 78....but it's not cumulative.

How are you still getting this wrong?

@Manny_Navarro: Essentially we've counted 74 #UM players on scholarship right now. 19 seniors. 25 commitments. If #Canes go down to 82 ships, 2 spots left

We good.

Manny isn't even taking into account early entrees to draft and/or attrition. Between the 2, it is probably in the 4-6 range.

Manny Navarro ‏@Manny_Navarro now

So #UM can decide dice up the 9 football scholarships any way it wants over the 3 year period. Al Golden's decision Blake James said
